Could someone give me suggestions what's a fun and practical way of entertaining kids at a wedding?
I have about 10-15 kids from 2-12 there and I'm realy stumped as to what to do with them. Really don't want them running around causing havoc.
Should I get clowns, magicians, face painters, balloon makers or babysitters to care for them at a separate room? Lay out some coloring books? Which option works best? Please help!

if there is room somewhere you can do the clown etc... but check with your reception hall. I bought a couple of activity books/puzzle for my flowergirls (4 of them) and some videogame thing for the junior usher. their parents should really think about bringing along something to keep them occupied (like a favorite game etc. - also they will prob be playing with each other)

My IL's had two young girls as 'babysitters' at the wedding, but honestly, the kids totally entertained themselves and I thought the babysitters were unnessesary, just two extra plates at the wedding. We had 6 boys ages 3-6 at the wedding and they just had a blast dancing with all the grownups, chasing eachother and just playing with eachother.

Maybe I should just save the money? I just wanna be careful 'cus 10-15 is a lot of kids!
And they aren't al gonna behave themselves in the reception room. We have use of a library where the bar is gonna be. I think that may be a good place to have coloring books and such?
So perhaps I can save money on the entertainers?

how about making them little partyy bags with coloring pages books, card games
Dont worry about it too much. First of all, it is their parents' responsibility to keep them behaving properly and besides kids will love to dance to the music and eat the food. Nothing special is necessary.

that is VERY nice and considerate of you to offer entertainment for the children!!
be careful setting up an entertainer though - if you do that the parents won't want to miss the actual party and then the entertainer, and YOU, are responsible for them . . .
honestly, at a wedding it is the parents responsibility to watch the kids. . . if they can't handle that they shouldn't bring them
i am sure the kids will have a blast dancing and playing. . . if you feel that it is time for 'quiet time' activity books and coloring books are a GREAT IDEA!
you shouldn't spend the extra money on an entertainer! IMHO

I would say put out some coloring books for sure. the smaller ones would really like that. butmay be a little short spanned.
maybe you can have the dj do alot of dance contests or things like that every so often, so it is keeping them busy in between other things.

This is was we did...I believe we had about 22 kids in all. The 8-12 year old were entertained enough by dancing, we sat them in the reception hall. The others we got two babysitters for, about 11 ages 2-7. It was awesome, we had them in the Bridal Suite (if parents wanted them to dance and stuff they brought them in the Reception Hall), but other wise they were served food in the Bridal Suite. We also had a TV/DVD player, coloring books, sticker books, I had separate favors for them with crayons, games, etc. They had a great time and never got bored. If you want to know exactly FM me and I'll send you a pic and the details.

I made each child a party bag - it had an activity book, lego's, mini-board games, a few arts/craft projects.
Most likely kids will be sleeping and running around and stuff. I dont think you really need to invest in entertainers.

How about a Caricaturist? (sp)?
It would be good for everyone but the kids would love it.

Bought the bags and content from the $1 bin at Target. The decorations and such - from Michael's/Rag Shop

My sister(I will probably do the same thing)put out a big basket of stuff she picked up at the dollar store...bubbles, coloring books/markers/crayons, goofy sunglasses, blow up guitars and horns, candy necklaces, glow in the dark bracelets...... Needless to say the kids had a GREAT time! They had plenty to do and were so well behaved! The good thing is that it didn't cost a fortune. Gotta love that dollar store and the kids don't know or care that you didn't break the bank!
