naming your baby after an ex of yours or FH's /DH's?
DH and I are talking about baby names (we're not pregnant yet) and he mentioned that he liked the name Brendan. I said that I dated a guy name Brendan so it's automatically out for me.
DH doesn't seem to think it's a big deal and Brendan is still in his top two. I thought that was so weird that he wouldn't care that our baby would share a name with an ex of mine
I know it's just a name but I would NOT be okay with our babies having the same name as any of his ex'es. Not okay with me!

Def. not OK probably your DH is a confident man and that's why he seems to be so careless.
Honestly, I would not name my child as an ex. But that's just my opinion.

I never really thought of it....but i'm thinking no. I probably couldn't do it. It would remind me of that person every time I said my kids name!

FH and I had this convo recently and he didn't see it as a big deal either.
& something similar...the girl name that I LOVE the most and have always thought of using if I have a daughter, I just found out that my ex named his daughter the same thing, so now there is no way I can use it! FH thinks im crazy for that lol.

If it was someone I dated for a while than no, but someone I casually dated while in college I wouldn't care....honestly I forgot half their names anyway

yeah, i think it's so weird! Actually, now that i'm thinking about it, there were two people who dated in our h.s. They remained friends and the girl got married and had a baby and he has the same name as the kid from our H.S that dated her!
The kid commented on her pictures saying congrats, etc and i always wondered if her husband knew before choosing the name???
and I agree, I can't use a name that somebody I know has used or even if I meet someone that i don't like. it ruins the name for me

that's the other thing!!! I don't keep in touch with him but god forbid it got back to him that my son is named brendan. I don't want it to be an ego trip!
eta; I actually really LOVE the name Brendan. It was one of the best things about him

It just depends on the person i guess, if the husband & wife are OK with it -- who are we to judge.
i wouldn't want to name our children after any of our exes. i feel weird calling my BM's guy his name b/c it's one of my exes name. yea, i'm weird but i just try not to mention those names EVER

It honestly depends on which ex bf. There are some I dated for a few months, and one I dated for 5 years. I would never name my child after the 5 year ex, but the other ones I wouldn't care about bc the relationship wasn't as meaningful

they said it was bc her HS bf was killed or died and she always said she would name her child after them. it's not his first name- i think it was like one of his 3 middle names lol

Fh wants a son to be named after him. He has the same name as my ex! lmao.
I guess it doesn' tbother me because when I hear his name I think of him not my ex? if that makes any sense.
