My parents couldn't go to a wedding over the summer but sent a gift. The thank you came and it was a postcard and on it it said 'thank you for sharing our special day with us' (it was not hand written just printed on every thank you). Today I just got a thank you for a different wedding...just a picture with a printed Thank You. How do you feel about this? What happened to hand writing something in the thank you? I feel like most people give a very generous gift for a wedding and a hand written thank you is nice. Is this old fashioned?

Re: How do you feel about...
I personally think its nicer to receive a hand written thank you...but I understand that people are really busy and just might not have the time to do that, and if it's a cute picture postcard or something like that I think its fine. Now a thank you e-mail...that's a different story...lol

I think there's no excuse for not sending a good old fashioned hand written thank you note.... but that's just my opinion.

I absolutely agree with everyone. Everyone should be thanked personally with a nice handwritten note.

I think you need to send a handwritten thank you card. You don't need to get the thank you cards out right away. Do some one week then the next and so on.

Re: How do you feel about...
yea agreed...even a short blurb in your own writing along with the greeting on the card i think is better then nothing at all...
get this...my COUSIN sent me and my parents one separate thank you card, no hand writing in it, and we gave separate gifts...i gave a gift from myself and my fiance and my parents gave their own gift...but because we live together, she sent one to the house to the whole family....THAT BUGGED ME!!!

i don't like these at all. I feel that if your guests took time to be part of your special day, they deserve a personalized thank you!

Re: How do you feel about...
My photo package includes an inscription on the thanks you so I will be taking advantage of it. But I will still be writing a hand written message on all of them also.

I don't think a quick handwritten note is that time consuming. Even if the only message someone wants to say is 'Thank you for coming,' that should at least be handwritten, not typed

I completely agree that Thank You notes should be handwritten. It's the least you can do considering all the time and money people spent to be there for you.
My biggest issue with thank you notes has been the time delay. I always thought you had 3 months. I went to two weddings in Sept for which I have not yet received thank you notes. Also, I have heard of people sending them almost a year later. What's up with that??? I mean I don't care how many people you invited and what you have going on in your life it does not take a year to write out thank you notes. Has this happened to other people or do I just have a bunch of friends with poor manners? lol

I've wondered the SAME thing about the delay in mailing out thank-yous!
I went to a wedding in September & my fiance' just commented this past weekend on how we hadn't received a thank-you note yet.
It's not brain surgery, plus you already have all of your guests' mailing info!!

Re: How do you feel about...
Depending on how big the wedding guest are, I think a lil thank you note hand written would be great. Just commenting on the gift, and how much you love them.

I do not like the preprinted ones. I think it definitely needs to be handwritten. Even if its only a small blurb, its something that gives it a personal feel to it.

Re: How do you feel about...
We are getting printed pictures of us from our photographer with some sort of inscription on the bottom as our thank yous but are writing hand-written thank yous to each person on the back of the photo. It shows that u actually care that they were a part of ur special day and that u appreciated them being there and/or the gift they gave you.
