How do you feel about having kids during the holiday's?
Each month I play around and go to a due date predictor. I check to see, if this is the month I were to get pregnant, what would be the due date of the baby. If we were to get pregnant suring my next O..My due date would be 12/25. I don't know how I feel about that. Everyone I know who was born around Christmas says they always feel jilted. Plus I don't know if I could handle running around and such for Christmas being 9 months preggo.
What do you ladies think?

Well....my birthday is 12/28...and it stinks. It gets lost in the holidays....but I wouldn't not TTC just because of when the birthday would fall. I would be thankful that I was able to get preggo...and have a healthy baby...no matter what time of year. Good luck.

I disagree. My birthday is 12/21 and my family (and now DH) always make sure to keep them very separate. I don't remember receiving birthday gifts on Christmas, or vice versa. I think that if you are aware of it, it's fine.

Sophia is New Years Eve. I am actually really happy about it. I always hated New Years Eve. Now it will be special.

I think December is a great time fora birthday. It would not bother me, what time of the year I gave birth, just as long as the baby was healthy.

I completely agree with you and I think its a good idea that you try to find a date that works best for you. My sister-in-laws b-day is 12/22 and she hates it. She always has a b-day party for herself a day or two before christmas and gets gifts from people that are 'christmas/ b-day gifts.' She gets upset by this and feels like she gets short changed. My other sister-in-law was very pregnant last christmas and she just didnt feel well about the holidays at all and actually had to leave christmas eve dinner to go home.

My b-day is 12/20 and I have never been cheated. My only reservation of having a baby in December (if I get pregnant this month) not only am I in December, so is my mom (12/30) and my brother (12/26) and Christmas. As my DH said, you would be so happy to be pregnant, you would not care when it was born. And when I really think about it, I agree

In a perfect world I would rather not have a baby close to christmas, but thats just me. But I am not going to STOP TTCing because of it, we cant pick the date so when it happens it does. i would just be so excited to be preggo that I totally dont care what date it is now, I guess we learn from our TTC experience.
Best of luck girls

I would be so happy to get preggo that I would not care at all when the baby was born, as long as he/she was healthy. I think you can always make a major point of keeping b'day's and holidays seperate.

I was born on 12/25. Personally, it has its good and bad points. Only recently have I noticed that people are not remembering that it is my birthday. Otherwise I have no complaints.

DH's niece was born on 12/24 and the family makes a point to celebrate her birthday on Christmas eve with a birthday cake. She gets her birthday presents with the cake.
They are not allowed to open any christmas presents on christmas eve either.
It's nice that the whole family will pretty much gtg for her birthday.

My BF's b-day is 12/20 and as a child she always felt jilted. I too would agree that I would just be happy to be preggo and wouldn't care when the b-day is. If my child's b-day happens to fall around the holidays then I will do all I can to make sure it doesn't get lost in the holidays.

I'm 12/28 too...and the only person who has ever 'gypped' me was DH..
I actually loved it - never went to school on my b-day...and it was a one big party week...xmas...b-day...NYE

If we were one of those fortunate couples that have no problem getting PG and could plan out a birth date I would probably not aim for the holiday timeframe.
But being that we are not as fortunate -- if we get PG this month it will be due in Dec -- and I would be thrilled behind belief to have a holiday baby.

Exactly what I was going to say!

As someone whose birthday is 12/29-I can tell you it stinks! However, I'm hoping to have a Christmas baby so I can spoil he/she! Don't forget--you get a tax deduction too!!

Molly is 11/25- thanksgiving week and very close to Christmas. I have a RULE that WILL be followed- if you walk into my home with Christmas wrapping paper on my daughters b-day gift or say 'this is a combo gift' you are thrown out! Molly's b-day is NOT christmas so treat it like it is- that is my thought.

Michele, I think that is a great rule. If we are blessed enough this month...I tink I will adopt that as a rule too!

Re: How do you feel about having kids during the holiday's?
This all has to do with how badly you want a baby ad how long you have been trying. I was due with Annalise on 1/1/03. Since we had been trying over 6 months I decided that I would not stop TTC that month because I would feel lucky if I got pg and I would be sure to deal with her BD being special. I did not plan to have Christmas Eve or Christmas at my house that year for obvious reasons. I made sure to have Thanksgiving instead since DH is very helpful. I had a great pregnancy and felt up to it, and also had help from everyone bringing a dish. Annalise was 3 weeks early (12/14) and got to get lots of Christmas presents from family. She also got baby gifts wrapped in separate baby paper. There is another family BD near Xmas so they are very aware of making it a separate holiday. I was able to attend the holidays with the baby at my relatives houses. I guess it is also about how laid back you are about traveling with a newborn. She was healthy and I saw no reason to keep her from the festivities. It was also great timing for her to meet relatives we only see on the holidays. Her first birthday this past December was held on her BD. Those who did not see her wrapped her gifts in BD paper and gave them to her on Xmas. She is too young to know the difference, but everyone tried hard to make mommy happy . I hope this trend continues since we will be aking every effort to have a party for her before Xmas.
