My friend is sleeping with a girl 16 years younger than he is. I want to be all liberal about it, but it kind of makes me queasy. She's just TOO young
What do you guys think? Is love blind, ro do you think people shold date peopel their own age or close to it?

When I dated an older man, I decided that I was May b/c I was just beginning my life (finishing college, etc) and he was December b/c he'd accomplished a lot of the things he wanted to do - and he fell asleep before 10 nearly every night.
I don't regret dating him but being the younger one - I look back and feel like I got taken advantage of at time and I accepted things that I'd freak out about now...
People can date whomever they choose. Everyone has to decide for themselves.

i dated someone who was 6 years older then me and it never caused a problem. but 16 years is a bit much, imo. thats not even may/decemeber in the same year!!

I mean anyone can obviously date whomever they want. But to me it's just sucha different life stage. He first found out her age when he wanted to take her to the local pub and she couldn't get in. I think that shows a lot of immaturity on her part. She has to know that he's much older than her, and not to say, hey I'm under 21. Bleeecccccchhhhh. He just doesn't seem happy,
I dunno this girl is 20. I'm a lot younger than my friend and I think 20 is too young for ME

My sister just had the same experience.
As for the age difference, that does seem a bit much. What could your friend possibly have in common with a girl who's barely out of her teens?

When I was 15 I started dating a guy who was 23. It seemed to work for us. I am not really sure why, but we were together for 4 years.

I think he's starting to see that. At first he thought she was 25, which I mean, no biggie at that point. But she's still in college. his concern was he'd date her and she's just want to be with the young guys at school. I told him that's not really the issue here.

My father is living with a woman 3 years YOUNGER than me, his daughter. It makes me want to puke.
But I deal with it best I can because he's happy.
I can't say I would be equally disgusted by someone else being in a relationship with such a big age difference though.
I don't think love is blind when it comes to age, no. I think people choose to be in relationships with big age differences because it is serving some need for both parties.

I am currently in one (he's older)and marrying the man. We are just like any other couple.
ETA - I am all for it if the people involved are serious and mature about the situation. I agree that some men / women do have mid life crisis' but it is not the case for everyone.

I dated someone 11 yrs older than me....I think we would have gotten a little more serious...but I had just gotten out of a messy breakup and wasn't really ready...and since he was 34 he wanted to more than I could offer at the time.

the guy before DH was 17 years older than me. We had a great relationship. I don't think there is anything wrong with it at all.
