How do you find a reliable Home Inspector?

We'll be looking for one in the Lindenhurst/Babylon area.

Ask your attorney for a recommendation (attorneys are not permitted to get referral fees this way, so if they give you someone it is b/c they think that they are good- end of story).

As long as you go with a professional engineer (PE) then you will be fine. They are all highly educated in what they do, and insured out the wazoo. Don't get an inspector that is not a PE- they don't have to be insured (so if they get something wrong, you're kind of screwed), and they aren't educated nearly as much in the field.

I highly recommend the PE that we used for the house we're buying (in Smithtown), but I'm not sure if he only does this area or not. FM me if you would like his info., and you could call and ask.

Never ask a realtor for a Home Inspector...I have heard so many horror stories...We just had a home inspection done 2 weeks ago...FM if you want their information...They were Very thorough & only $325

I think word of mouth is the best way. And if you cannot find one that someone has used and liked definitely ask your attorney for one. The RE probably gets kick backs from people they recommend and if they are working for the realtor they might not tell you about some problems that exist in the house. I am sure that is rare but it happens.

I have a great inspector if you want his name. We used him twice on 2 different houses.

LOL... ain't THAT the truth. Thats like asking a used car salesman if the vechicle has had any prior problems.

My Inspector works that area & he is fantastic. He is also certified for termite/veron inspection.

FM me for details if you are still looking for someone
