How do you get pre-qualified?

Just saw an awesome co-op listed in edgewater.. want to know if I can pre-qualify.. how do you do this?

I'm sorry I can't be more detailed...I leave this sort of stuff up to my husband...but, I believe he just contacted a mortgage company to get our pre-approval.

Hi,
from what I do know, when we got pre-qualified, the bank basically just calculated all the numbers we gave them and told us what amount we were qualified for. (we only needed a pre-qual letter for the realtor)
With pre-approval the bank actually ran our credit and from there found out how much we were approved for.
did that make any sense?

You can actually do it online on most lenders websites.

You can do it online or even call a mortgage broker and they will send you the letter.

we called a mortgage broker but you can call a bank too.

We did it through Weichert - they have a financial branch.
