How do you handle this??

How do you handle this??

There are some people who out right asked me if they were invited to the wedding. One of the people who asked is someone I don't talk to that often and haven't seen in years because I know her from college. She asked me if she was invited and at the time I said yes because I thought it would be awkward to say no............ but if I would make an excuse that its going to be a very small wedding w/ mostly family or whatever

It's just one of my biggest pet peeves

i've had people say this to me and mostly ask my mother if they are coming, or how excited they are to come to my wedding. I told my mom that you need to tell them that its a small wedding, we are on a budget so its just very close immediate friends and family...
I never assume i'm invited to everyones wedding. Some people just think differently i guess

What's with the people you know? lol I think that is very rude for someone to ask you. You can always say you haven't finalized the guest list and you're keeping numbers down.

I say exactly what you would have said. The room is small / I don't have Fh's family list so I don't know who is invited / we have to keep costs down / it's a small wedding .... any of the above will work! Hope you really do want this friend invited now! But you could always go back and apologize and say that your family list is bigger than you thought and you have to cut back on friends you aren't super close with ... as long as she doesn't think you are closer than you do, it should work. Who asks if they are invited to your wedding anyhow? I would never think to do that!! A little rude, no?

Good luck!

Yea its definitely rude.... she's one of those online friends at this point. I haven't spoken to her in years and the only reason she knows about my wedding is through my away messages!! And then she just assumed she was invited!!!

Some work people have done this to me and i am really only inviting my three bosses and another friend from here but when other people ask I almost kind of just laugh it off and say that we are having a small intimate wedding and really had to limit the guests..without saying they weren't invited! lol it's the best I could do...

I was speechless the first time it happened but now I just tell the truth -- I tell them I wish i could invite everyone I know but I simply can't afford to.

A woman at my job told me that she can't wait to see me walk down the aisle and I felt really bad because I knew she was being sincere but I'm not going into debt so that someone's feelings are spared -- especially when we aren't close anyway.

One co-worker told me she was coming to my wedding and I told her you better find something else to do because I didn't see your name on the guest list. She wasn't even a friend that I hang out or have lunch with. Then other co-worker said she was crashing my wedding. I asked her did she know Long Island and she said no. I said oh and walk away. Some people you can't be nice too.

OMG! I can't believe these stories!! I can't imagine that people would be so rude to put you in a situation like that.

I would definitely tell them in a nice way that it's going to be an intimate wedding and leave it at that... you shouldn't feel rude by telling them no or worse... feeling forced to say yes to them.

something like this did however happen to one of my friends before she got married, we were all out at a bar drinking when a friend of a friend asked her if she was invited and in the heat (drunkeness) of the moment, she invited everyone that was there! She later just had us pass along that she was too drunk to remember she had made an open invitation and that her wedding was going to be really small. haha

FH gets so mad when people do this espicially since our wedding is so soon people at his job which he only invited 6 people ask him how come I never get an invitation. I think its so rude of people to ask for an invitation. I think you should just laugh them off and tell them since they asked now there not invited!!

ughhh sorry you have been put in that position. sometimes people don't understand not wanting to invite everyone on the planet. They automatically think just because you know them or are friendly with them they should be there.

Re: How do you handle this??

if you are getting married at somewhere other then you RH you can invite them there. simply say that unfortunately you list already has too many name, (or whatever you want to say), but let them know that they are more then welcome to go to the ceremony, thats if you want them there HAHA!
