How do you handle this? nwr

How do you handle this? nwr

FIL's live very close to us. And they come over unannounced A LOT. Friday they came over without calling and FH was at work. I was home but I was getting ready to go out and I was barely dressed. I couldnt even pretend I wasnt home bc my car was outside and my nosy neighbor told them I was upstairs.

Yesterday was the only day of the week that both FH and I had off, so we spent most of the day together lounging around and relaxing. So as we are napping, of course the bell rings and FIL's are outside. I mean honestly, this is getting ridiculous. I really like them a lot but coming over unannounced is unacceptable. I tried telling FH that I dont like it (in a nice way) and he kind of laughed it off. I told him he needs to talk to his parents bc one day they are going to drop by at the wrongggg time. He actually doesnt mind when they do this though. But I do! I mind very much!! What do I do????

maybe this is not the perfect advice but you have to sit him down once again and tell him that you don't like it and their has to be some sort of system in place. If he laughs it off then you have to let him know that YOU will address the situation with his parents and if he freaks out..........

Find a really interesting and embarrassing scenario to be in when they just drop by......
Perhaps some 'protection' is out laying around

You are living Something About Raymond!

Well at least they don't have a key. Maybe the next time they do it you should look really frazzled and say ' I'm running out the door, wish you would have called first.'

Honestly I don't think it is going to stop.

no no no not protection, have some toys laying around. Like one of those scary bondage masks and a gag ball.

My ex-MIL was like that and it drove me crazy. My solution was to move 35 miles away from her. I can't say it completely stopped but it helped!

If FH isn't going to say something explain to him (in a nice way) that you're going to say something. Maybe you guys can set up a once a week dinner with them and let them know that is a good time for you all to get together and for them to come by. Stopping by once in a blue moon because they're in the neighborhood is one thing but whenever they feel like it would just piss me off too.

I think you need to sit down with FH and tell him you don't mind them coming over but you'd appreciate at least a call before they do.

Funny you say this. FSIL apologized that they do this and said they used to do the same thing to her when she first got married. So she moved to CT!!!
I'm not moving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This would drive me nuts!!! You have to put a stop to it now or it may never stop! I would set down with your FH and just tell him enough is enough. He has to support you on this one!

U should definitely say something about it. Ask fh to tell them politely that they should at least call before stopping by ... And if he doesn't u should try to talk to them. Good luck and let us know what happens when u tlk to them...

I would just nag him until he said something to them...

You need to let FH know that this is something that you feel STRONGLY about, he needs to realize that your going to be his wife and he has to be able to support you with situations like this. I'd just tell him plain and simple that if he doesn't talk to them, then you will. It doesn't need to turn into a huge fight he could just simply say 'Can you please just call from now on before coming over'
