How do you handle this? nwr

Original post by Lil OC

FIL's live very close to us. And they come over unannounced A LOT. Friday they came over without calling and FH was at work. I was home but I was getting ready to go out and I was barely dressed. I couldnt even pretend I wasnt home bc my car was outside and my nosy neighbor told them I was upstairs.

Yesterday was the only day of the week that both FH and I had off, so we spent most of the day together lounging around and relaxing. So as we are napping, of course the bell rings and FIL's are outside. I mean honestly, this is getting ridiculous. I really like them a lot but coming over unannounced is unacceptable. I tried telling FH that I dont like it (in a nice way) and he kind of laughed it off. I told him he needs to talk to his parents bc one day they are going to drop by at the wrongggg time. He actually doesnt mind when they do this though. But I do! I mind very much!! What do I do????

If they do this when FH is not home, tell them you were just on the way out the door (even if it's not true) and that you would love to chat with them, but just don't have the time at the moment. Then, grab your keys and go out somewhere. They should eventually get the hint!

omggg how annoying more annoying since FH isn't equally annoyed

I agree with the other ladies, this is not going to get better on its own. I think it will go over better if both you and FH talk to them at the same time and say that you love them but they need to call before they come over. Even if it doesn't bother FH as much, he needs to support you so the IL's can't turn you into the bad one!

You can either
1...pretend ur not home even though they know you are.

2...just come out and say it...

3...make sure you (and/or FH) answer the door in nothing but a towel

Hopefully they get the hint.
