HOW DO YOU MANAGING YOUR WEDDING IN LONG DISTANCE?

I AM CURRENTLY LIVING SOUTHERN CA, BUT MY WEDDING WILL BE IN NYC. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I SHOULD MANAGE THIS. CAN ANY ONE HERE HELP ME OUT? THANKS!

Maybe you guys could set up a thread on in - I know that DebsNY is in VA, then theres a girl in GA, cranesgirl is in NJ - and there is one other girl in CA too - so you have a bunch of people in the same boat

Hi there! I can relate to the long distance planning. I live in VA and hired a florist and photographer without meeting them. First off, I've taken one task at a time. Found a place first, then worried about the dress, etc. Each task was separate and I didn't think about the rest of the big picture. I've TOTALLY used forum like LIW (NOTHI'IN BUT LOVE FOR ALL THE GIRLS HERE!) and theknot.com to get recommendations for vendors. To chose a vendor I just have to use all the tools available-phone and email. I check BBB, and start calling. I can usually tell A LOT by a phone call. The level of effort put forth by the vendor to write me back, call back or send snail mail is a true indicator of their interest in helping me. My florist wrote be back in a timely fashion, was friendly on the phone, and sent NUMEROUS proposals until I had one I liked. She obviously values communication and her proposals demonstrated she knew what she was talking about. Otherwise, I'm just following a checklist like most folks and when I hit something that can't be done where I live, I get on phone or computer and go to work!

I live in Georgia, and I've been out to LI two times, to visit with vendors. I set up appt.s on line, and call around, and this web site, is a life saver, I LOVE IT.. I watch for reviews and ask questions, and basically make my choice on that. We booked our DJ first, because we loved his web site, and he sounded so nice, and from then it wasn't too bad. We went to look at our hall, and a few others. those were the big things, also the photographers, but you can look at web sites, and have the photographers send you examples and portforlios.. It really isn't hard, especially with this web site.. Iw ouldn't have had any easy time with out LIWEDDINGS.. Good luck, and there are a lot of couples that are planning from out of state!!!!!!!!!!!1

HI- I am in Southern California too! My wedding is in NY next July and its been a pain to plan. Where do you live??? We can have our own private GTG!!!

I am living in Dana Point (OC). I haven't set up the exact day yet, but it should be in next fall, some where in nyc.

Hey, Do you know there's Bridal Show at Orange County Fairground in Costa Mesa on 10/3 (this coming Sunday 10am to 4pm). Have you been to any thing like this? Does this help?

It really only helps if you are getting married here since that's where the vendors are from. I never really liked those things anyway. I would stick with this website. You can't go wrong. I only went to one photographer with all the info I found on here. These girls are a Godsend

i am planning from Boston - it is hard because it is hard to meet with vendors on the weekend but i try - i set appoinemtnet sup early for when i am going to be home- but it goes so fast and i used to go to relax but that does not happen any longer
