How do you nicely tell someone they weren't invited with a guest?
My 16yr old god-daugher has taken it upon herself to invite one of her girlfriends to the wedding!!! I had no intention of inviting her with a guest, she's only 16 and she's not dating anyone. I really don't want to pay $100+ for one of her girlfriends to be there!! I think I've met this girl maybe 3x in my god daughter's life! I'm hoping when the invites go out, her mom will have enough sense to realize the invitation is just for my god-daughter.
Help!!

You tell her, flat out. She's 16 years old, and now is the time to teach some etiquette!
And if she's only 16, you can really put her name on her parents invite. Would that get the point across?

i hope it would!! her mom already warned my mom that she is going to approach me asking if she can bring her girlfriend. apparently her and this girlfriend talk about it a lot - so i feel kinda bad, but i'm already cutting out family from the list - i can't afford to fit friends!!

if her mom knows this is her intention and knows it inappropriate, can't she just tell her daughter that she can't bring her friend? rather than putting you in that awkward position...

the mom has tried to (repeatedly), but my god-daughter keeps saying 'karen will let me' (in her typical teenager-knows-it-all-tone). i think it's up to me to put my foot down.

So go ahead and put your foot down! She will understand when she gets older.

OMg are we already at the age to tell people they will understand when they will get older...I was hoping not to get there for about another 15 years!

Too funny Debbie! I think you just need to put your foot down.

I do agree though...people just don't understand what this stuff costs!

Karen,
Don't even mail her an invite...put her name under her parents.......not for nothing...what she did was really rude!
Its her parents problem...they have to lay down the law and if she has the nerve to ask you...flat out say no!
Good luck, Jen

You are going to have to tell her NO, take off the kid gloves- no pun intended, but this is ridiculous.
