How do you stay motivated??

How do you stay motivated??

Ok, i am one of those people that loves to sabatoge themselves - so here i am, working hard and lost 6 lbs. As soon as I did, i ate like an animal and gained it all back - so self destructive!

I think i need cognitive therapy to change these thought patterns! lol!

The wedding and honeymoon should be enough motivation! I am wearing a slim fitting dress!

Please everyone - what are your mantras! i need something!

Re: How do you stay motivated??

i gained weight in college by eating a lot of bad foods and drinking too much since then i've tried to lose it a bunch of times but like you I seem to always gain it back. this time i'm doing it for real and i keep telling myself that 5 lbs here or there will add up and it's easier to lose 20 than it is to lose 50 or 100! stay on top of it now instead of after you've gained too much and it's twice as hard. good luck

just so difficult! It is like my vice - I need to learn to have control instead of it controlling me!!

I do go for weeks then in one weekend destroy everything and feel like crap for three days and miss the gym because my stomach hurts from drinking and eating soo much in a weekend. It does take a toll on you.. even with the picture of a skinny girl in a wedding dress hanging on m fridge.. still doesn't work

I couldn't agree with you more. I have a tendency of doing the same thing. Just recently I was thinking the same thing - 'why do I have this self destructive vice?'. It's to be addressed after my wedding.

I do have a pointer to you. Having eaten a lot of stuff in one day or two does NOT negate all the hard work we've done. It merely doesn't make us lose weight. Once we get back on plan and wait a few days for our bodies to rid of the H2O and the excess food, you will see that we're not too far from the weight we had lost. Keep on going. I know it's hard. Being a stress eater does NOT help (specially when special day is less than 2 weeks away), but we have to learn how to deal with this.

How much weight are you planning on losing????

Re: How do you stay motivated??

I have the same problem -- I used to be go good when I strictly followed WW after college on the weekdays and eased up on the weekends. And kept off the 30 pounds I lost for 2 years then I just got lax with following WW and couldn't maintain the loss.

Now, I am really good with going to the gym, maybe 4 or 5 days a week. And for the most part I can curb my appetite and have some sort of will power but it's so hard. So although I go to the gym I am not seeing the weight loss probably becuase of the occasional snacks and stuff. It's so hard to stay motivated not to mention I was on a daily medication for migraine prevention for a year and a 1/2 and after coming off of it in January it made me gain weight on top of the weight I orignally wanted to lose for the wedding!! Ugh!! I need some motivation!!

You will do it, no fret. Try losing slower, maybe that will help.

Re: How do you stay motivated??

on WW they tell you to start with your initial goal to lose 10% of your total weight and go from there....it's always eaiser when you set reachable goals. that's what I'm trying to do. hope it works!

ww is definitely the way to the meetings help keep you going along with the weekly weigh ins. i'm proof, i just got my 10 pound ribbon last week, now my goal another 5 pounds.

i eat constantly. =0) sounds counter-intuitive, but i really do. i make sure i never get hungry and always have a good snack available. i find that when i do overeat it's because i was starving. fruit is really good, oatmeal (one packet), veggies, etc. target has these really good low cal snacks i just came across - organic fruit leather and fruit leather bars (yum!) and apple chips (only 50 cal!). also, pickles and olives are great if you like them. pickles have about 5 cal each. hth!

also, drink a lot of water. most of the time you think you're hungry, you're actually thirsty. =0)

Re: How do you stay motivated??

I have no control over my eating habits, but luckily I am highly motivated to go to the gym. The best advice is to only buy healthy food and the occasional treat food. Unfortunately, I live at home with my parents and this is not really practical with 6 other people living in the house.

my FH and I keep saying we can't wait to move in together so we can eat better when we cook for eachother. I know it will be easier when there is less junkfood in the house. until then here's to will power!!

anyone else feel this way too?

That was EXACTLY where I went wrong too...im actually doing that right now on WW and its sun night and I have to get back on the saddle..

Im very greatful that this thread was started...its like group therapy!!! I think we all need to talk once a week!

this is a great thread!!

it's so much easier when you know others are going through the same things you are

Another great way to stop yourself from snacking is to come on LIW! It's hard to eat if you're typing!
