That you do not want to be a bridesmaid in their wedding? Seriously, I am 99% sure a friend is going to ask me to be in her bridal party and I truly do not want to be for many reasons. This is kind of ironic since I am planning my own wedding but never had to tell someone I really don't want to be your bridesmaid. Any suggestions?

Depending on your reasons just be honest.

You can always go with the money excuse, thats always a good one..other than that its kinda a sticky situation. also if her date is close to yours then you can use that

You can say that you are going to be so busy and you would feel wrong taking on the responsibility of being a bridesmaid and not being able to carry out your responsibilities. Or, you can go a different route and blame it on the financial responsibility.

wait for her to ask and then tell her that you can't cuz you don't think you can devote the time and also for financial reasons...see if she buys that

Yikes! That is a tough situation. I guess it depends on your reasoning. I was so hurt when a friend of mine said she didn't want to be in my bridal party. I look at it as an honor. Are you not as close as she thinks? Money is also a respectable reason.

Re: How do you tell someone...
ok she is sort of a distant cousin and when we get together we have a great time together but we do not get togethere often. I am going through some stuff right now that just makes me not really want to participate in much not to mention the money factor. I will think more about it and maybe things will change for me by the time she asks. I know I am jumping ahead of myself but I just know what is to come.
ETA: she does know what is going on in my world right now so she would probably understasnd if I was just honest with her. Thanks guys!

I would just be completely honest with her and I'm sure she'll understand...especially if she knows what's going on in your world!

You'd think she'd get the hint since she's not in yours!

I wouldn't use financial reasons bc she may then spring on you that she will pay for the dress or something. I recently chose to back out of a wedding for more personal issues with our friendship although i did blame it on the stress of preparing for my own wedding.
