How do you uninvite a baby? (sorry-a little long)

Original post by sophisticat13

I know this sounds awful (and awfully stupid of me) but I have a friend coming in from Florida to come to my wedding who just had a baby about 6 months ago. I was so happy that she was coming....that I told her that she can bring the baby to my wedding and even worse, that she could use my bridal suite to breast-feed the baby !!!!!!!!Now that I am getting closer I am thinking, why did i do that?!!! I was so happy for her when she had the baby (she had trouble conceiving and went through a lot) and I have nothing against babies and even want my own but...I just don't think a wedding is a good place to bring one!!! What do you do if the baby cries during your ceremony or the cake-cutting, etc???
So here is my question...how do I go about asking her to NOT bring the baby??? CAN I even ask her to not bring the baby???? What do I do?
P.S. I know this sounds terrible, maybe I am a contender for Bridezilla, but I am really kicking myself right now!!! Please help....you ladies have been terrific and I could never have planned my wedding without you!! Thank you!!!!

I dont think you can do that at this point since you already said yes and she is flying out from Florida for the occassion... would you leave your 6 month old (especially when breast feeding) to fly to your friends wedding ...i doubt it.... i think you just need to deal with it at this point...it will probably be fine and i am pretty sure that if you didnt allow the baby that she might not even come.

honestly.. the only reason she probably agreed to come was because she can bring her baby. i think you're stuck with them both!

If u already told her she could bring the baby, then it wouldn't be appropriate to go back on your word. And once your recpetion begins, you won't even need to go into your bridal suite unless its to use the bathroom. So you probably wont notice her using it to breast feed.

ETA: You should politly ask her to bring the baby out of the ceremony should it get fussy- most people who have half a brain would do this anyway.

I agree with almost all posters above... you can't uninvite at this point.

You already said it was ok and she may not come without the baby... You just have to hope that if the baby fusses at the ceremony that they take the baby outside..

ETS: hey we're date twins!!!

ok...here is my evil plan...you have to invite a few more babies....and then say, since we are having so many babies, we are hiring a babysitter in another room so the parents can relax away from the sounds of crying babies!

Hello ladies,

Thank you soooooo much for your advice and feedback....you are all right (haha)...I cannot uninvite my friend's baby, esp. if it means my friend might not come! I am going to have her (she is coming w/o her husband, he is staying home w/their other child) sit in the last row for my ceremony like you advised (and/or hire a babysitter-not sure yet - but that seems like it would be the best solution!!). Thank you AGAIN for giving me a better perspective on this issue!!!!!
