how does..

..the anniversary dance work?

did a lot of you girls do that instead of the bouquet toss?

I wanted to but then I realized only like 5-6 couples will be dancing....

So the DJ says if you are married, please stand up and join the newlyweds in a special dance


then he calls out years married 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40... etc and give your bouquet to the last remaining couple

we're planning on doing one

Our band is going to play 'At Last' and ask all the married couples to join the newlyweds for a dance. They every little bit the band leader is going to say something to the tune of 'will all couples married less than 5 years please have a seat' '....10 years...' '....20 years...' etc until there is only one couple remaining. Then i will hand over my bouquet to the couple married the longest

i think it is a really nice thing to do if you have grandparents alive and oldercouples coming to the wedding
unfortunately my grandfathers all died within the past 3 years, and my parents are divorced so having this dance didnt seem appropriate for me

that's really sweet, but i don't think we will have too many married couples at our wedding -- a lot of engaged couples, but not married.
