How does this hotel blocking thing work???
I am clueless about this. I think I am going to try and book a block of rooms at the Huntington Hilton for my wedding at the Crest Hollow. Do they charge you to do this? Or do they just take your credit card and hold the rooms? What if you dont' book the whole block, or go over?

Re: How does this hotel blocking thing work???
I did it so long ago I can't remember if I gave them a credit card number or not. But the thing was they would hold the rooms at a discounted rate up to one month prior to the wedding, after that date any room not booked was released and anyone who called afterwards would have to pay regular price. Every hotel might be different so just ask them what the policy is.

Re: How does this hotel blocking thing work???
We blocked off 20 rooms at the Holiday Inn in Plainview for after our wedding and they didn't need a credit card. They just will hold those rooms so if the hotel is out of vacancy your guests will have at least 20 rooms they can reserve. Sometimes they give you a better rate since you will be a 'group'

We are blocking rooms at Garden City Hotel, sent me contract, we did not have to give credit card info. They will hold rooms to a month before. We are not obligated to anything. When the guests call and reserve room they will give their credit card, mention our wedding and get the block room rate. Also garden city hotel, is sending me cards to include in invites with all hotel info and numbers. If they think we will need more rooms to block off they will call us. pretty cool.good luck

Re: How does this hotel blocking thing work???
The way my hotel and most that I called works was you call and tell them you want to block a certain amount of rooms. They will hold those rooms for your guests until a month before your wedding usually at a reduced rate. Meaning you will be guaranteed that many rooms for your guests. After a month before you wedding those rooms that aren't booked are open to the public. I did not have to full all the number or rooms I bokked nor did I have to leave my credit card. ANy guests who called after the month before my wedding deadline still can get the reduced rate but there is nothing the hotel can do if they have no vacancies...hope this makes sense.Hey JenHos - I am using the same hotel as you.
