I was wondering if anyone knows how it works when they tell you that your cake is included? Are they talking about a ugly plain cake? LOL. I know diff types of designs and icing cost more. So is it included for a standard type of cake and then they start tacking on an extra price if you want more detail to it, etc? I'm trying to have a gage of extra unexpected type expenses that could arise and I know nothing about cakes.
Thanks!

Re: How does this work?
Mine included set cake flavors and fillings, and a book of designs I could choose from.
If I wanted anything different, it was an upgrade.
Ours is simple 3 tiers, which is all we wanted

It depends on the RH. My RH showed me a binder with diff options. The selection that was included was pretty good. Things that were upgrades were: square rather than round tiers, fondant, ribbons...

Re: How does this work?
When they say upgrades of diff things, how do they charge for it? Is it drastic?
I attached a pic, its nothing drastic but Im just wondering where they even start with the basic cake that is included.
Even if I called bakeries I wouldn't even know what to ask or where to start.
Honestly, that looks a lot like my cake! And it was included, and instead of one part of the dots, we are putting ribbon

The design you want is beautiful! But it looks like fondant, which is often additional (my RH's included cake is buttercream only). Not sure about the lace-ish detailing though.

I'm thinking that your RH will have it worked out with the bakery they use about what they 'give you' for an included cake. Anything other than that might be conisdered any uprgrade.
If you're curious, I would call the bakery and as what kinds of things they consider included in your package this way you can decide what might be considered an upgrade.

Re: How does this work?
Our cake was included with either Black Forest Bakery or Campbells. We decided to go with Black Forest. We called them up and told them we had a cake included with our package and made an appointment to come in and doing a tasting and pick a design. They can pretty much do anything you want them to. Some stuff may cost a little extra on top of what is included (such as square tiers or fresh flowers) but pretty much standard cakes and fillings are included.
