How early can I block hotel rooms?

Is it too early to block hotel rooms for May 2004? How far in advance should I do it? Thanks!!

Book everything as early as possible. If the hotel accepts blocks for 5/04 - block them - its another thing off the list

I agree...book them whenever you can. Don't wait. I missed out on a local Inn because I waited and now I regret it.

I am geting married the day before you and I have already blocked my rooms. I was told at the hotels i looked at that one year out you were able to do it. It's defintely not too early to do it.

I am looking for hotels right now... I have about 25- 30 people coming from England and Italy. I was wondering if you block rooms & then you don't need them all, are there penalties?

Do it now...it's never too early!

There shouldn't be penalities. Most places will release your extra rooms that are not being booked about one month prior. But definitely ask this when you are making the block as some hotels rules may differ.

Definitely book early. We did ours about a year in advance and the sales managers were telling us that in another month or two they wouldnt have rooms avaible for blocking.

I booked already for my May 2004 wedding.

The sooner the better. You def. want them booked before you send your invitations out.

I blocked mine off a year and a half early(wedding in February, I blocked them last August) I would not wait long, my friend went to block off rooms at the hotel closest to her reception hall and they were booked. Now they had to settle for a holiday inn because they waited too long for the nice hotel.
