How early can I send out out-of-town invites?

I figured I could get a head start (I kind of have a 'B' list of people to invite) by mailing out my out-of-towner's invites earlier than my regular ones.

My wedding is August 6th and I plan on sending them all out June 1st w/ a July 1st RSVP date.

I thought I could send OOT invites mid-May w/ a mid June RSVP date assuming they will kind of know if they are coming or not.

Is this a bad idea? I could always use the excuse 'in case you needed to make plans'...

TIA!

I would say 12 weeks at the earliest.

I'm sending OOT invites really early -- June 1st for my Oct. 9th wedding.

I know this might seem crazy but my FH's family is from Montana and we're pretty sure that most of them won't be coming (most of them didn't even go to his brother's wedding that was in MT!!) And apparently absolutely everything about the wedding seems crazy to him and his family (his sister's wedding cost about $1000 and the food was 'pot luck'!!!)

I'm asking this B-list to RSVP in July and sending my A-list out at about 10 weeks (to RSVP in Sept). Since my reception hall is so small (GWM -- shooting for 130 max) I have less room to play around with #s.

I am getting married the same day. I am also sending by invites out june 1st with a response of July 1st. I haven't thought about sending the OOT ones early. But I guess its because I don't have a 'B' list. I think you can do it, they need more time to make travel arrangements anyway.

I'm sending mine in 2-3 weeks... (i'm a day before you... and my RSVP is also July 1st)

Because it's the summer, you can send them out SUPER early before people make summer vacation plans... so i'm sending them out by May 22 the latest.
