how early for trials?

how early for trials?

Hi, I am wondering how early one should start hair and makeup trials. I am reading some of the 2009 girls posts about some of the hair and makeup people being booked already into November of 09, and I am January of 2010.

Should I start looking into these vendors now, or is it safe to wait?

TIA

Re: how early for trials?

My wedding is October 4 (6 weeks!) and I had my makeup trial in mid July and am having my hair trail next week. I couldn't see doing it any sooner than that because my hair style might change if I do it too early and my skin color changes with the weather (I get darker in the summer).

For vendors, I would start my initial research in 2009 because if you call now vendors would be reluctant to give you a price now for 1.5 years in the future. I think 10-12 months is enough time to book a vendor.

Exactly the reason why I have not done mine, but I will this weekend. I don't plan on getting any darker.

I am doing mine now also & getting married in Nov...no reason to rush on that.

I haven't done mine yet and plan to do it about 4-5 months before at the earliest. I gotr worried when I saw everyone doing them so early. I want my hair stylist not to forget what she did and have it somewhat fresh in her mind.

I did my hair and make-up trial last week. I felt ridiculous with it being so early. But I really liked an artist's work, and I was hearing a lot of girls regret not doing the trial sooner because she was already booked 9 months in advance.

So, I wanted to be on the safe side. If there is someone specific you want, I would a the very least call them.

I will, however, probably need another trial in a year as we get closer to the date and I have my veil and a better idea of my wedding colors.

The only reason you might want to look soon is to see if you really like particular hair person. I'm not positive I love my hair trial or that its the one I'll definitely go with but I know I love my hair person. That was more important to me... finding someone I like and booking them, not finding the exact style. I dont mind going for another trial or two closer to the date, I just didnt want to chance my date not being available from that particular vendor.

I would make some appts for January, if you are planning on using your local hair salon, then you can wait, but if you are planning on using one of the more 'popular' vendors, then you should look into it now.

Good Luck!

Re: how early for trials?

Ok, this July I started asking the same question as you bc I thought I was way too early bc i am getting married in July 2009. So then I decided I would make a few phone calls to some vendors that I have saw on here that look like they do nice work. To my surprise 3 vendors (M i a from B r i dal Lo u n g e, Denise Venti, and Jacquline Nicole) were already booked. Therefore, my suggestion is if you see someones work that you really like, call and schedule a trial. Even if you do not make the trial until January of 09', sometimes just by making the trial you are holding the date.... not with all vendors but some tentavely hold the date until you have the trial and decide that you do or dont want to use them. Remember, vendors on here book fast!!!

Good luck!!
