How early is too early???

How early is too early???

OK, so we've been looking around for limos and one place really turned me off. I called to make an appointment to see their party bus and the guy gave me a really hard time about coming so far in advance from the wedding. I know most places only have about 2 buses and I wanted to make sure to get one before it books up. He just kept insisting that the cars could change in the next year and he doesn't understand why we want to come now. It made me feel really uncomfortable and embarrassed!!!
And anyway, WHY would you talk someone out of giving you business?????
So my question is: IS this too early? Our wedding is 5/9/08. Thanks.

Danielle

PS - No other limo place said a peep about it being too early.

if a company tells you it is too early - dont give them your business. seriously

i booked limos about a year before BUT i booked photo/video, florist and DJ TWO YEARS before the date and no one said i was early they all said i was smart!

That's the general reaction that I get. That it is a good idea to be ahead of the game! My photographer and DJ are all booked, I really couldn't understand the issue.

Thanks for responding!!!

Wow, guess that company was not interested in your business. I definietely don't think it's too early...it's the only way to assure you get everything you want. I say take your business elsewhere...it's their loss!

My wedding is in Nov. 2007 and I just booked my limo over the weekend, and the owner told us that we are early and we can pick whatever car we want. So I guess 7,8months b/4 your wedding is good time to book. JMO

It is never too early, I would look for other places.

I'm definitely booking limos next; I'm getting married on a holdiay weekend. I feel that if they give me an attitude, they don't need my $$$.

ETA: Welcome to the boards! Have you met the 08ers??

Re: How early is too early???

FH and I are having a long engagement- 2 years and we did it for a reason. Part of which was to enjoy the planning process and book things at our leisure. One big pet peeve of mine was when vendors would say, oh you have plenty of time. Yes, I know, but that is why we set the wedding date when we did. It just totally turned me off from vendors.

There is also a major plus with booking earlier- cheaper prices!! When we booked with Legend Limos, Bobby was straight with us and told us that in a few weeks, the prices would change for 2007. So we booked.

Any vendor that says you have so much time, just tell them thank you, but no thank you.

Good luck (and check out Legend Limos- they were great)

we also have a long engagement 2 years by the time we get married because I am working on finishing my masters, and it's also been nice to enjoy our engagement. And we also ran into a limo company this past August that told us were were too early and come back in February. WE were lookimg early just to ensure we had what we wanted and at the same time we'd lockin '06' pricing. Lomg story short we were turned off and went elsewehere. Just make sure you book with a company you trust in the end.

Obviously, they don't want your business-cross them off the list. It's not too early to be looking for limos.

it's never too early and anyone who tells you that clearly does not want your business - all star limos was very nice to us in booking our buses

I called a florist in December 06 (my wedding is this sept. 07) and they said I was too early and to call back next year. I was like...ok forget you...you can't even take my name and date.....that is so rude. Who are they to tell you when to start planning?????????

We booked every vendor over a year in advance. I'd go elsewhere.

I would definately go elsewhere... I am getting married in August of 08 and I already booked with Royalty limos! They didn't give me any trouble at all... the guy actually told me that I should book asap because they only had one of the 22 passenger car I wanted!

We've had a short engagement, and were turned off by vendors who told us the opposite 'why did you wait so long to call? you're really late on this...' Uh, we just got engaged, people.

If a place wants your business, they wouldn't give you the 'you're too early' bs. I'd go elsewhere, unless you had your heart set on that particular company.

Definately not too early.....we booked our limos in the begining of March and our date is after your. I would look else where and not give them your business b/c that is just rude

I wouldn't wait. We wiated to do ours and th elimo company had booked the Excalade already so we got the Navigator (also nice but not what I originally wanted).

Go somewhere else if someone tells you you're too early. It's never too early!

Re: How early is too early???

I don't think it is too early. When we first looked at the limos they told us that all they had was the 06 Chrylser and during the beginning of 07 they were getting a newer edition and that is what we would get. So we booked with an 06 but we went back and saw the 07

Re: How early is too early???

I'm getting married in August and we booked our limos two weeks ago.

I do think it's on the early side, and I would understand if limo companies have a policy that they don't book a year in advance or something like that... However, if they gave you attitude, then I'd take your business elsewhere.
