How early should a photographer come for pics the day of the wedding?
My ceremony starts at 5:30 and we are taking all pics beforehand plus the getting ready pics. My photographer said he will come to my hotel at 3pm. Does that sound right? Is that enough time to take all bridal party, FH and me and family pics. The bridal party is 18 ppl plus us. My hotel is 20 minutes from the ceremony and we were thinking of going someplace in between for pics.
Thanks for the help!

Sounds right to me as long as everyone is ready. My ceremony starts at 2:30 and the photographer wants everyone ready and outside by 12

Re: How early should the photographer start?
that sounds about right. our ceremony is at 6:30, but i want to get to RH around 5:30-6. So we are starting pictures around 3pm at another location and then heading to the RH, which is 15 minutes away.

My ceremony also starts at 11:30. I thought 9 o'clock would be okay. Are you having take pics of you while you're having hair and make-up done?

Re: How early should the photographer start?
Mine starts at 2:30 and he's coming at noon or twelve thirty, but that's because we have 10 hours and I don't want him there the whole time at the reception. I want people to loosen up after dinner and be able to feel like they're not on camera (though an uncle once mooned the videographer, so I'm not quite sure our guests will be that shy!!!).
I'm thinking 12:30, so that he's done at 10:30. He'll get all the important stuff, and leave the guests 'free' for two hours of the four hour reception.

Re: How early should the photographer start?
No that is not enough time, that gives you about 2 hour prior to your ceremony for pics.
Do you intend on taking pics of your getting dressed? Im sure your photographer will want to take portraits (pics of just you and then pics of just FH) then you will do your BP pics, your family pics and the pics of you and FH-2 hours is not enough time.
My photographer showed up at 11, granted he also took pics of me getting ready but between the pics of me after being dressed, portraits, pics of me with just the girls.....I would say it was about an hour.
We didnt do our family pics until 1 hour before CH and it probably took about 1 hour to get the pics of all family members, then the pics we wanted at the hall, etc.
AND we booked out 1 1/2 hours at OWG
Also remember (if you are having a limo) he will want to take pics of you getting out of the limo, etc.
I dont really know if you are taking ALL (as in the pics of your BP at the church/etc.) of your pics before your ceremony but if you intend on getting most of them out of the way then I would recommend your photographer show up earlier.

Are you taking pics before hand? Like with FH?
If not then no you wont have to be up that early Makeup takes 1 hour (should be less but definitely should NOT take longer) and hair about the same depending on what you are having done.
Getting dressed is a peice of cake....then its just portraits and add in travel time plus 15 minutes for the pics outside of your ceremony choice

Re: How early should the photographer start?
After everyone's comments, i got nervous and called the photographer. he said they will have me sit in the make-up chair for touch-ups and hair and if we feel he needs to come at 2 we can finalize on our 10 day review.
I'm taking all pics, getting ready, limo, bride and groom, bridal party and family pics all before the ceremony. What do you ladies think, 2pm if ceremony starts at 5:30?

Re: How early should the photographer start?
our ceremony starts at 6 at the RH and we are doing pics before the ceremony....
im thinking photographer should come at 1:30 maybe - so we have 4 hours before the ceremony starts to do getting ready, portraits, family and us - our photographer said she'd like us alone for about 2 hours for pics....(im assuming we'd stop taking pictures at about 5:30 - i dont want guests arriving to my ceremony to see us, i want to go in the bridal suite to relax and freshen up)
we only have photographer for 10 hours - our party will probably go until 1am and she will leave at 11:30ish - we might just see how much it costs to have her stay....
i dont know - anything that has to do with logistics/time makes me stress

I have curly hair so I am considering having it blown out day before maybe and it would make hairstyle easier to start instead of wasting time straightening hair. Makeup shouldnt be too bad right? Think FMIL, BM, MOH and FMIL are also doing makeup. Would it be best to have only me amd my mom and FMIL together and BM can go have theirs done at their places??

Re: How early should the photographer start?
sounds good to me. My ketbuah signing is at 11 am and the ceremony at 1130 and my photographer is coming to me at 8:30 and the rest of the BP is coming at 9. 2 hours should be fine, and if you need anything else you can quickly finish up during the CH. (i personally want to be all done so I can enjoy the CH)
