How early should you book the florist?

I've heard mixed things. Some people suggest doing it asap, but others say you can wait till about 9 months or so to the date. So, I'm interested to hear other opinions.

I booked mine already and my wedding is in Jan 2011. I didnt want to have to pick just anyone because they were available.

I'm looking to book mine by this mth, my wedding is 10/2010, but I rather have options and then go with the person I love than to HAVE to pick someone because they're the only ones available. JMO

I agree. I don't want to just get stuck with whoever is available. I am meeting with florists this week and my wedding isn't until October 2010.

I booked my florist a year in advance. I was looking for something unique and not ordinary so I started looking early. I found the perfect fit with Pedestals

It depends on who you're interested in and how many people they have on staff and how many weddings they commit to per day. That makes a HUGE difference. I think you can wait 9 months before to hire one though. When you do start to make appointments, bring pictures of what you like so they have an idea or ask if youcan email them your ideas beforehand so they have time to prep a sample for you.

I would suggest getting things as early as possible..

this allows you to get what you want... it would stink if you couldnt get a limo, or a florist that you want because you took too long..

also this allows you to make monthly payments, I am making monthly payments to all of my vendors. I will have everything paid off a month before the wedding!!!

ETA: I booked mine 14 months in advance
