My SIL wants the whole family to rent a house for vacation next year and I've never done that before. How much is it for a week? Is it much cheaper to do Breezy Point?

where out east? for how long?
the summer i lived in the Hamptons ('02)... the cheapest house was 16K from memorial day- labor day.... that was in Hampton Bays (that was the house we lived in )

i just looked in fire island (ocean beach) for a week and most were about $3000-$4000 (depends on size youre looking for)

Well I'm not sure exactly where. I'd like it to be on the beach. But I'm not set on a particular place, Southhampton, Hampton Bays, makes no difference to me and I like the North Fork so I'm open to where. We'd only want a week though, not the whole season.

I'd check on the North Fork, its cheaper thatn the Hamptons area...even hampton bays has gone WAY UP....and a lot of people will nto rent a house for a week.

You could probably get a house in Montauk for about $5-10K, depending on how big you're looking for. Best place to find info on rentals is to pick up Dan's Papers or go to the website:

I would definetly rent a house on the North Fork. It is a lot less crowded and it so relaxing!!! My parents have a home in Orient Point and I love going out there!

Just to give you an idea - My friend rents her house in hampton bays for 35,000-37,000 for memorial day to labor day. It is 3 bedrooms 2 bath and a finished basement. they also have an inground pool. About a 2 miles to the beach.
