How far can I expect guests to drive for my wedding? I have very few out of town guests, so that's not really an issue. 1 hour? More? Less?
TIA

Re: HOW FAR.....
Hmm, good question. I'd drive up to 2 hours without thinking it was a pain. I guess its more about the drive home that i'd be worried about.
If you are thinking of having it somewhere far from a lot of your guests, perhaps offer discounted rates at a nearby hotel for anyone who wouldnt' want to drive?

Re: HOW FAR.....
I am having my guests drive an hour from the ceremony and honestly...I don't care about them. It's my day. Sorry if it is harsh. I know others may feel differently.

Who cares??? People will be there if they want to be there - distance should not matter.

Re: HOW FAR.....
My mom and friends think asking for more than an hour is not right. They think it's inconvenient and that it's a pain for the guests.
Also, they think guests will leave early because of the long ride back.
My family is Italian. They are pretty old school. I highly doubt they will stay at a hotel for the night.

Our Ceremony is in BROOKLYN, our reception is in LONG ISLAND....on a SUNDAY night starting at 7:30....
Your wedding, your way - do not feel bad for people traveling - they'll do it to be there for you. Three hours - extreme (maybe) but less than that - to be expected.

Re: HOW FAR.....
My very Italian parents have been to a few weddings recently where the b&g have provided a bus to the reception and back. With the invitations, there was an rsvp for the shuttle service, explaining that if they chose to take the bus, they needed to be at the meeting spot at a certain time. My parents thought it was great since my father had a stroke a few years ago, he can't drive long distances. In other cases, they've stayed at a hotel even though it's only about an hour.

Re: HOW FAR.....
well, I have about 20 guests traveling from California, so no...I don't think an hour or more is too far!!

Re: HOW FAR.....
You have to do what will make you happy...it's your special day with your FH. My ceremony is in western Nassau, and the reception is in easter Suffolk...about an hour and a half apart. Our families and friends are all over the island for the most part...you can't make everyone happy...so make sure you are!
Don't stress...once people get there (the ones that really want to be there - the ones you want to be there) they'll have a great time because they'll be celebrating with you!

I'm not sure I understand...
I had guests come from CA to my wedding, so driving time should not be an issue. if they want to come, they'll be there.

I agree, we had people come from CA and Israel and Fla to our wedding. We both in live in NJ as do all our friends and we got married in LI. If people don't want to drive that's their problem. JMHO

Re: HOW FAR.....
will, i once drove 6 hrs to a wedding (Virginia) and i would do it again in a heart beat. Weddings are special and don't come around that often so you should go if you get invited and you can make it

If they want to be there, they will be there. We are having people from Italy and PR fly in, and many more driving from long distances...

Re: HOW FAR.....
Honestly, I agree- if people want to be there they will (if they can) even if it's Friday night or Sunday. For the local people, while I made certain considerations for guests if there was an option I didn't drive myself nuts.
