I'm worried becasue my son is 6 (from my 1st marriage) and eventually I'd like to have another, but I'm concerned with the age difference. How far apart are you and your siblings and was it a good/bad age difference?

Re: How far apart in age...
I have two older brothers - one five years older, one eight years older. I think we got along better growing up, because of the age difference. I looked up to them.

I have two older brothers one is 11 years older the other is 7 years older.. I can't tell you how close we are it is crazy we are all very close with on another I would not change a thing...... DH's siblings are a diffeerent story his sister is 5 years old and his brother is 1 1/2 young than him. The three of them truly don't have that much of a relationship. But like someone else said each family and each child is different.

Re: How far apart in age...
My older brother is 5 years ahead of me and growing up he pretty much terrorized me and my younger siblings. But I loved that he was 'older' older with enough of an age gap that I always felt protected. He was definately my BIG brother and all his friends from school used to dote on me and call me their baby sister as well.
Now that we're grown up we're extremely close. And I never once wished that he was closer in age to me.

Re: How far apart in age...
I have a sister 3 yrs younger, a brother 6 years younger and a brother 7 years younger. We have been VERY close our whole lives (actually I used to fight with my sister when we were younger but now we are very close...my brothers and I have always been close)

My little brother is 6 years younger than me. Being a girl -- I loved having a baby brother -- He was like my little doll. I even called him ' my baby ' from time to time. I dressed him in doll clothes and put makeup on him -- ( he did turn out normal and straight ) lol but -- I know my mother wishes we were closer in age-- she said it was hard trying to find activities to entertain us both --- We have always been close -- and continue to be. My neighbor has a 9 year old boy and a 4 yr old girl -- and they are so cute together ! He teaches her things and really looks after her. And she is one tough cookie -- having a big brother to defend herself from ! I think any age that works for you is the right age! Good luck !
