book a hotel and block rooms?!?! do I need to do that ASAP?

I think those 'rates' are total B . S. It's only 10% off. I got a better deal online for our friend's wedding than her lousy 10% off. I mean, I only saved $8 but still, it was cheaper.

It's basically just good to book the block to ensure there is 'room at the inn' - that's just my opinion.

i didnt do it yet b/c i still have a little over a year until our wedding. maybe we'll do it January. I don't want to do it in December - I'm nervous that they'll give higher prices b/c its the Holidays I don't know why I think that but I just have a feeling its better to do it after the Holidays are over.

i just blocked my rooms for my 9/7/08 wedding. i guess just get it over with, especially for a saturday night wedding.

I have already blocked 10 rooms. However we dont have a lot of out of towners and the ones that are staying at the East Wind are mostly family or bridal party members who dont want to drive home!

I blocked off rooms about a month ago for my Nov08 wedding. They started off with a block of 10. It's good to lock in a rate now.

Yeah same here...they aren't for out of towners...they are really for the drinkers who dont want to drive home at 12

I had rooms at the Garden City Hotel--but now with them selling, we have no idea what is going to happen

try to get the hotels and rooms blocked before you send out your Save The Dates, so that any information on your website, if its on your STD will let guests start booking the rooms. If you sign a contract, you'd want to make sure that the rooms get taken by your quests.

I just booked mine a couple of weeks ago for my 2/17/08 wedding, so don't worry too much.

And the rate was only about 10% cheaper. That seemed to be pretty standard.
