How far in advance did you order your invites? (NM)

I ordered them in late June. (They came in less than 2 weeks.)

I put Sept 30 as my response date.

My wedding is Oct.26

Here is a timeline for you.

Sept: I'm getting married

Feb. of this yr: began looking at invitations to get an idea.

June of this yr: ordered invites through our hall's wedding coordinator. She deals directly with the mfrs so they came in under a week. Some places take longer so you would need to allot time for that.

I mailed them out in early July.

So that was 3.5 mos. I would give yourself plenty of time because you dont realize how many choices will be presented to you. Best of luck.

I'm getting married 5/31/03
I'm already looking at invitations and sending away for samples. They will be ordered no later than Dec 1st.

We are getting married on 10/5/02 and we ordered our invitaions in Jan '02 but I think that we should have waited a bit. They came in so quickly and we hadn't really started to figure out exactally how many people we would be inviting. We ordered 100 invites (thinking this would be much more than enough) but when we actually finalized our lists we were 7 invites short and needed to order more . If we would have known we were going to need close to all of the 100 would would have orderd a few more just to be on the safe side...but because we didn't realize for such a long time afterward that we would need more we had to put in a completely new order which cost us over $300 just for 25!!!! (the first ones they print are more expensive because of the set up and what not)...if we had ordered them right away after our initial order they would have only been just over $70 .

So if you are going to order them really early I would make sure that you have a really good idea of how many you will actually need. Please learn from my costly mistake.

We will probably not order my invites until Nov. or early Dec., at the latest. Our wedding is mid April and we expect to have many out of town guests. I was thinking of taking my FI to go look today but I know my FMIL will think I'm insane for just going to get an idea now. My mother would have liked me to go a few months ago.

applesfla, thanks for the advice! We're having a tough time figuring out the guest list b/c my FI is not very close to his family. He's not sure who he would like to invite. I'll make sure he's sure who he wants to invite before we order! I've also heard you should order extra invites and envelopes in case of mistakes, so we'll add to our guest count for the order.

I'm getting married in the beginning of July and will start looking in January. I need to mail them out earlier, since I'm getting married over a holiday weekend.
