how far in advance do you..

Look for bridesmaid dresses?
I am going this sat to have my other bridesmaid look at the bari jay dress in person but a few have said to me 'isn't it too soon?' I mean im getting married in May, but I dunno =\

Also, my dress just came in yay! I wanted to know when should you go for your first alteration? A friend of my friends (who are married) said its too soon and I should wait in case I gain(def trying not to do) or lose weight.

i'm about a month after you and am going with BM's next week to try the ones I've picked out, nothing concrete yet but def will be by the end of the month

We first went looking in June and picked it out by the end of June, but my girls need to have it ordered by January (although I'm telling them December). Since you're a month before me, I'd recommend having your girls order their dresses no later than the beginning of December.

I am getting married in early May also. The bridal store that I got my dress from said that we should order bridesmaid dresses no later than October because as the holidays approach people's budgets get tight and you want the dresses ordered and ready to go. I am going to do my best to have them ordered by then and I am starting now. Its a challenge to get people together as it is.

Im in April and im going for a final trip to pick them in two weeks with the girls. Im going to ask that they order them no later than mid October. I wish it coulda been sooner since my dress is going to be coming by the end of October already.

In regards to your first fitting, usually the bridal salon determines when they want you in for your first fitting. Its usually 2 or 3 months before I think but Ive also heard of 4.

im going next month to start looking, im not having them order yet though, i just want to decide on something (esp cuz it takes forever to get some of them together lol)

also for your fittings, you should do the first one around 2 or 3 months before, you dont want to have it too far out because of weight gain/loss

My dress just came in also I am going to see it this weekend. NO Alterations yet but my salon said I can come see it anytime.

I also just had one of my girls look at a Bari Jay dress she loved it and I am confident we will go with them. We are holding off until January though, with a wedding in August. That gives at total of 8 months before the wedding; 4 months for them to come in with some extra time god forbid something comes in wrong plus time for alterations.

I don't think it's too early to get the BM dresses. I think 9 months is a good time to start looking and have them ordered by October-November. If you want to get this out of the way, don't listen to your BMs, lol.

I do think it's too soon for alterations on your dress. Usually the first fitting is about 2 months before the wedding.

I already found my BM dresses, but I'm not going to have them order them until the end of this year and thats only because they said that it will probably be discontinued by January.

i live in CT and one of my bm is in FL so we went a little early, i think it was like 11 months before since it was the only time my bm would be in town b4 the wedding.

Alterations 3 mths before your wedding!
Bm dress 6-8 mths before your wedding they should be order it takes about 12 weeks to get them!

everything i have read says 6-8 mths...

we went a little early (like 8 1/2 - 9 mths) bc my sister the MOH is preggers and I wanted to go before she got too big and couldnt try stuff on.

The store told us it takes 3 mths to come in...they said to have the girls order them by November just to be safe...i am telling the girls October so they all put in the orders on time bc i am sure there will be at least 1-2 stragglers.
