It depends..if you have a lot of out-of-towners, I'd say at least 8 months ahead of time. They need time to book flights and reserve rooms, and might want to shop around for good travel prices. if your guests are relatively local, then I'd say about 6 months before??? We are getting married next July and we are sending ours out the end of August..after FH's sister's wedding.

no more than 12 months ahead is a good rule of thumb, anything more tends to be forgotten ![]()

Yea, I'm trying to find a happy medium thats not 'too' far in advance yet not too close to sending out our invitations.

Yea, I'm trying to find a happy medium thats not 'too' far in advance yet not too close to sending out our invitations.
yeah our day is not a holiday so dont have to do a year. I figured 8-10 months is perfect timing. ANything under 8 months there is no point of really sending one out.

I was thinking the same thing plus I have only a handful of OOT'ers but I'd like everyone to set aside that day just incase they were planning any sort of vacation because the week after is Memorial day weekend!

Very true...it does take me FOREVER to make up my mind! By the time I figure everything out it should be about 8 months before lol!

Hmmm... I've read 6-10 months prior except for holiday weekends is usually a year in advance. I have never recieved a Save the Date for a wedding before so I don't really know.

Me and my cousin both agreed we wished we waited to send our std's out so that it was less then a year to go. I would now say 9 months.
Reason: both of us wished we waited because now we have a few people we wished didn't get one so we don't have to invite them.
