How far in advance should we have everyone hand in their guests lists??

How far in advance should we have everyone hand in their guests lists??

I just read on the knot that you should finalize your guest list 9 months before the wedding, and we have 9 months.. My fmil, acts like we have 5 years until the wedding. Would it be annoying to ask her now, or does she need to get her stuff together??

I asked my FMIL for her list of names & addresses about 7-9 months before. Still trying to get them from FH, it's like pulling teeth

My guest list is STILL not finalized and I am planning on sending out the invites in 2-3 weeks

I think now's about when you want to start finalizing it. You are going to be ordering invites, planning favors and such that requries a decent head count.

ETA: I don't think it's ever really final. As we were stuffing envelopes DH says that he has to get the addresses of cousins x, y & z. I NEVER heard of XYZ until that moment.
