So I am getting married in February...when should the shower be? Do you do it before the holiday season? (I can't do it in January).

Re: How far in advance to have the shower?
you could probably do it as early as november
my cousin was married in july and her shower was in april, so that was about 3 months in advance

Same here my shower was almost exactly 3 months before... but for a feb wedding you dont want to be smack dab in the middle of the holidays... so do like early nov...

Re: How far in advance to have the shower?
I would definitely do it before the holidays, like late October, early November.
My shower is the 6/26 and I'm getting married 10/2 so it's like 3 months out but for you that would be right around Thanksgiving towards the beginning of December and that is a CRAZY time of year for people.

Re: How far in advance to have the shower?
I find that most people do showers anywhere from 2-3 months before the wedding. In your case I can see the issue with having it around the holiday season so if you don't want to do it in January I would maybe say like late October/early November?
Our friend's wedding was this past April but her mother had the shower in November, which was super early but I think she might have done that to trick her (she really was surprised!).
It's really all up to you when you want to have it (if it's not a surprise for you that is).

Ditto with what everyone else said...if you're getting married in Feb; then I'd say do it 3 months before Late October; Early November. Definetely try to avoid the holidays since everyone will be busy with their holiday shopping. And in October/November you might get a great weather day!

Re: How far in advance to have the shower?
I am a January bride and my shower will be in the end of August or beginning of September. The 'books' say it can be at any time 6 months before the wedding, but the standard is 3.

Re: How far in advance to have the shower?
thanks girls! One more question, I have a friend getting married columbus day weekend - is it rude then to have the shower two weeks later (I understand she might not be able to come). I am having such a hard time scheduling everything between other weddings and holidays....

I think 2 weeks after is fine... IMO what would be rude is having it right before her wedding, so in this case I would have it 2 weeks after rather than going any earlier, especially if you're close to her or it involves a lot of the same guests
thanks that is exactly what I was thinking...think I am gong to go with the first week of november...

Re: How far in advance to have the shower?
My shower is going to be September 26th (I'm getting married a week before you)
We wanted October but the place we wanted it at had no October availability.
My mom didn't want to do it so close to thanksgiving and christmas so we booked the end of Sept.
