Re: How Far Is Everyone From the Hospital....
I'll be in Bayside and delivering in East Meadow, so about 30 minutes, depending on traffic and the time of day. My MW said that as soon as I am feeling contractions and in labor, we will be in touch with her on the phone constantly. She will definitely consider the distance when telling us when to go to the hospital.

Re: How Far Is Everyone From the Hospital....
I am in Ronkonkoma giving birth in East Meadow which is about 30-40 minutes without traffic. I cannot leave for the hospital during rush hour so I would have to go earlier rather than later.

Re: How Far Is Everyone From the Hospital....
I never thought to ask this question but am soooo happy to hear the responses-- I really like my OBGYN and have had her since before we moved but she is no where near where we live therefore the hospital is a good 40-45 minutes away--and now that we are trying we constantly talk about that--the good thing is her office and hospital(same town)is near DH's job and my inlaws and closer to bridge so when we finally deliver it will be easier for family( we live in the boonies!!!) so def glad to hear that others have a hike as well

Re: How Far Is Everyone From the Hospital....
I live in Maspeth and the hospital is in Lake Success/New Hyde Park -- w/o traffic, it should take 15-20 minutes (depending on how fast you drive -- and since I'm more then convinced I'll be driving myself because my DH will be passed out in the back, I'll get there in 15!!! )

This really makes me feel better because I am in Shoreham and the Hospital is in Plainview so it could take 45min to an hour to get there. Everyone else is not that close either

Re: How Far Is Everyone From the Hospital....
Our hospital (Winthrop) was about 20-30 minutes away and luckily I went into labor on a Sunday night otherwise 6pm on the Eastbound Northern State would have been ugly. DH knew a few routes though. The only problem we encountered was a crossing guard on Willis Avenue stopping traffic to let people cross from the parking lot to the church for Sunday night mass. Religious fanatics!!!
edited to add: it took 20 minutes. DH went through a few lights and I remember people blowing their horns at us. Now whenever I see someone blow a red light, I realize that you never know what's going on in that car

Elizabeth I live across the street from a church that has a crossing guard on Sundays and if I do go into labor on a Sunday Steve will run her over There are times we want to stick her whistle where the sun don't shine

Re: How Far Is Everyone From the Hospital....
My obygn works out of North Shore Manhasset ( where I had billy too) and it's about 30 minutes from me. I want to plan to be induced even a few days before my due date if they allow me too and if its safe for the baby, that way I dont have to panic about getting there

Re: How Far Is Everyone From the Hospital....
I live in Riverhead and I delivered at Southampton Hospital. It is about 20 minutes without any traffic and with DD due in June I was nervous that she was going to come during a weekend rush hour where it could take more than an hour to move 10 miles!!!! Luckly labor started at night on a Tuesday and there was PLENTY of time to get to the hospital
