FH found a place we really love but it is a little over an hour away from where we live/most of our guests live/ceremony.
We are looking at an early April wedding, so is it worth it to make the trip out east at that time of year?
Also should mention..we are going to be a group of around 250 guests who love to party. (concerned about driving)

Re: How Far is Too Far?
This was our situation too. We ended up booking the place we love although not convenient for anyone.
Turns out most everyone is going to stay in a hotel out there who is going to drink etc. The others can drive home if they want. Mostly the oldies is what I'm thinking.
Make sure to book hotel blocks.
We can't at this point afford to hire another transportation vehicle for normal guests so theyre going to have to figure out transportation on their own. We decided we've never been to a wedding where the transport was provided to us so we won't do it if we can't afford it. Some can catch a ride with our trolley on the way back to various hotels if needed. This is still in the works.

I think it's ok if you have a hotel block booked. I would be concerned about people drinking and driving.. maybe you can hire a bus or something to transport people?

Re: How Far is Too Far?
Our reception was about 45 minutes away from our home town church, and everything was fine. People from LI are used to driving all over creation!
The guests who wanted to really party and not worry about driving took a room at the hotel (we had hotel shuttle service to/from the reception). But that was their choice.

My cousins are all young parents so sleeping at the hotel block isn't an option so they are going to rent a car instead. It's 6 of them altogether so they can split it to keep down costs. I think that you shouldn't let it inhibit your choice and as long as you give a hotel option and allow everyone to know ahead of time then people will make accommodations for you! HTH

My RH was an hour away if not more for most of my guests, however I booked it anyway. People were delighted with the place and the distance for them was no a huge deal because they came to celebrate DH and I. Overall, I wouldn't have done it differently

This. Do what you want. It's your day. You'll be surprised at what people are willing to give and do for you. It's truly such a special time for you and your FH and it should be a special day.
