How far is your church from the reception?

I decided to change the ceremony to a church in the city. So without traffic it will take like 40-45 minutes or so to get to the reception. Do you think this is too far? Hopefully not too much traffic during Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

My reception hall is about 30 minutes from the church. I think 30-45 minutes is pretty average. I think as long as it stays under an hour, you'll be okay.

Good Luck!!

I decided to change my church because I will be receiving my sacraments of initiation at a church I've been attending in the city. It would be more meaningful for me to be married there since I have developed a relationship there, instead of getting married at church for the sake of convenience. My cocktail hour is at 6:30 so I'm hoping we can have the ceremony at like 2pm. Hopefully this will give us time to take some pictures in the city. Practically all the guests are starting from the city so we didn't think this would be too much of an inconvenience.

My hall (syosset) was 30-40 minutes from my church (queens) without traffic. I had a gap between church and reception so it didn't matter much..just some people didn't go to the church. I hit no traffic on my Saturday afternoon...seemd like we got there in 5 minutes but it was probably about 30 minutes.

My church is actually in the city as well and the reception is in Jericho about 35 minutes away. I have found that there can be some traffic on Saturdays but we have plenty of time in between. Cermony is at 3 and cocktail hour starts at 7. We are providing buses for our guests that will leave at 6 to leave enouhg time. A

THe church is only 5 minutes from my house, and our reception is about 40 mins away (if you don't drive as slow as moleasses.) We also have a 2 hours gap in between. So everyone will probably head back to my house before going to the reception.

My church is on the Upper East Side and my reception is in Glen Cove. I hired a Coach bus from Peter Pan to shuttle the guests from Manhattan to Glen Cove and back at 12:30am.

Most of our friends in the city don't have cars, we have a lot of out of town guests and I didn't want anyone to have to go through the hassle of driving and worrying about drinking etc.

The bus was only $350 for 8 hours.
