I am starting to research places to hold my reception, and I have come across a strange question I keep asking myself...
My ceremony will be at Queen of the Most Holy Roasry in Roosevelt, and like I said, I am not sure where the reception will be yet. But how far away should the reception be from the ceremony? A 30 minute drive? 20 minute? If the reception is in Roosevelt, would say a drive to Flowerfields in St. James be too long?
Opinions, and ideas are very welcome.

The church is in Hicksville and the reception is in Wading River. So our guests will have to drive around an hour. i have heard complaints but hey, its my day if I fell in love with the east Wind...then that's that!

my church is 19.2 miles from my hall....so it really comes down to a 30 min drive...its a half hour drive through the hamptons..my guests are gonna have to suck it up..

The church is in Medford and the reception is in Mount Sinai - about a 15 minute drive....however, we have a 4pm ceremony and 7pm cocktail hour so there will be time to kill regardless.

Our church is in NYC, reception on the Nassau-Queens border. Without traffic, it should take only 30 minutes or so, but we think it'll probably take about 1 hour on a Saturday afternoon.

you should have it where you want! people may complain and some people may skip the ceremony (more people do this when there is a long drive between cceremony and reception and/or a longer period of time between the two... but, what's most important is that you be happy with the location choice!

From me, the reception is about 45 minutes away, but if the guest is further out east, it's closer.

Church is in Bklyn, Reception in Woodbury - on an 'average' day with moderate traffic - 45 mins....on a Sunday I'm sure - at LEAST an hour.

We are gettig married at a chuch in Queens and our reception is at Flowerfield, its about 45 mins.

Mind me asking what time your church is and what time your CT hour starts?? I have a ride too and I wanted to move my CT hour to give us some time..
