How has your dream wedding changed???

How has your dream wedding changed???

I started writing this, then I lost it, so here i go again. I am curious, is your dream wedding becoming your reality or is so completely opposite? My first wedding was going to be to JFK,jr, around Christmas time, at St. Patricks Cathedral with a reception at Tavern on the Green. My BM were going to wear green and red velvet. Ahhh, I was 14 Then Vegas was really starting to appeal to me...spontaneous, fun, different...But then a beach wedding was it. Didn't matter if it was on LI or in the caribbean...i just wanted candles, a floral wreath, a slinky dress, barefoot, sand and smell of the salt water...ahhhh, but on LI, we get rain and horse flies and mosquitoes. So then we fell in love with this old farmhouse and I wanted a whole shabby chic/Martha Stewart thing, but aha, more work than i though. Now that we are really planning, i see that it is a combination of all, but still unique and still my dream. But it's funny how it's all changed. So what i am asking is this: Has your dream wedding changed completely, whether it be from 20 years ago or 3 months ago???

Re: How has your dream wedding changed???

I am definitly planning my dream wedding. I always dreamed of it this way when I was little.. and the recently went back and forth between this and a beach wedding. I still love the beach idea.. I think that is just a different part of me.. and if it was my second wedding or something like that I would probably go for it... But my dream wedding is definitly what Im getting and im sooo grateful to be lucky enough to do it.. the way I want.. even if I am on a budget

when i was little i was going to wear a dress exactly like my mom's...with a high necka nd long lacy sleeves and buttons all down the back....and my bridesmaids were gong to wear red and green and navy velvet dresses because it was going to be a Christmas wedding.....

Instead I'm having a springtime wedding with light green bridesmaid's dresses and I'll be going strapless...no lace!

A lot changes over the years!

Totally different from what I wanted. I was the type of person that wanted to do something that no one had donebefore. I wanted to get married on a boat and have a whole nautial theme and not spend a lot of $$ small, smiple and different was the name of the game..I kept saying that everyone was crazy spending all the $$ and to put it as a downpayment on a house....so naive... Now I am having the all out ball in a catering hall/wedding factory with a min of 150 people and a $40grand wedding bill. Boy how things have changed. All the things I never wanted to do I am now doing b/c I feel we need to do it.
Craziness!!!

I always wanted a navy blue and silver WINTER wedding...
But instead I'm having a plum FALL wedding.
No biggie!

For the most part I am having my dream wedding in a lot of ways, but there are also a lot of aspects I had to let go. Willfully, but still let go just because it would have been overdone instead of classy.

I have a chapel train, thought I wanted Princess Di train. Never thought I wanted strapless, but I have it, always thought I would do the whole horse and carriage thing with the clear slippers, but nope!

If I combined all the aspects of weddings that I liked when I was little it would be so gaudy LOL

I always visualized it being outside with lots of flowers and me in my beautiful white dress but since I HATE bugs, that was definitely not in the cards! So instead we are having it indoors with AC.

In college I loved Forest Gump & Jenny's wedding on the lawn.
Too bad I don' t live in a big farmhouse in the south! I amy still wear flowers in my hair though. . .

Realistically , I wanted a bbq at the picnic grounds of the Bethpage state park, but I didn't want to deal with the weather, so I am now going more traditional than I thought.

I loved their wedding. I loved her dress, her hair and that tree!!! One place we thought about, the farmhouse, had this BEAUTIFUL tree in the backyard. It was so ethereal.

Other than the fact I used to dream I would marry Keanu Reeves???

I never thought I would want the type of dress I bought. I actually went into the salon with a totally different idea of what I wanted until I tried it on.

Okay my dream wedding has changed from an outdoor ceremony with me in a dress with illusion sleeves and a long train to a indoor, synagogue wedding with a strapless gown. Other than that, most things have gone as planned
