All over your Mom's Dress???? Oh dear!!!!! Mary MOB
Yea....again...where were his parents?!?!?!?
My mom saw that he was getting pale in the face and tried to hold his hand to bring him to the bathroom instead he turned in front of her and threw up on her dress!
Oh, Anna!!!!!! Debi is not having any children at the wedding other than those in the BP, for some of the same possible reasons you've stated. If the young man you're talking about, has already proven he can't behave, because parents are not watching him, then you have a right to feel the way you do. Mary MOB
thanks Mary! I just know the way he is and that his parents will not watch him! I don't mean to be bridezilla about this but I KNOW something will happen!
Well, past behavior predicts the future sometimes!!! Mary MOB

So his sister is in the wedding? I'm confused? If these are sibling and they are your aunt and uncles children you can not NOT invite him. That would be rude, and if you invited cousins then invite them all. I think(JMHO) that if you exclude him you will casue more problems then you want. Try to think about how you would feel..JMHO
Yes...his sister who is 10 is in my bp. The only kids I invited were my cousin's children and my aunt & uncle's children(My uncle is the youngest brother thats why his kids are so young). Most of them are btw the ages of 10 & 14. There are 3 younger boy cousins who are btw the ages of 5-7. Now if you were a parent and you wanted to bring your child you should have full control of your child because it's not like they are going to an amusement park or something. It's a fancy RH. My cousins aren't bring their boys because they want to enjoy themselves and not have to worry about their kids running all over the place.
My aunt and unlce on the other hand have 0 control over their son. Like I said before...I invited him leaving the decision to my aunt and uncle. If they bring him they have to be responsible parents and watch over their son. That is not the case. I was told by one of my co-workers that at my enagement party my little cousin went into the mens bathroom and picked up the blue urinal deodorizer and was about to put it in his mouth. Where were his parents?!?!?!?
I understand the frustration..TRUST me I do, but to have his sister in the bp and to not even have home come?? I'm sorry but that is not just rude, but mean! You left the invitation open to hima nd you can't back peddle now....sorry but if that's how you felt you should not have left that decision upto your aunt and uncle. No matter what the intentions are or how much the parents can control him that is just wrong. At this point if they RSVPed all of them he is coming and you have to suck it up. I know you want it to be a great day, but IMHO this is taking it to far

Yes, he is a walking monster because he is my cousin as well. I really think Sara needs to leave him home with her sister because I do not want vomit all over my cousin's RH.

on the day of your wedding, you wont even know he is there and if you do , you wont care
you will be too occupied with everything else to and if his sister is IN the wedding, yes, sorry but i do think its wrong to expect the parents to leave him home

Laura you really don't understand. Another thing from my enagement party. Before we started the party my FH's uncle who is a priest was saying a blessing. Everyone was very quiet...BUT the lil terror ran up to the dj booth and started playing the percussion instruments!
How in the world are we not going to realize he is there!?!?!?!

Its not horrible of you to feel this way. My friend didnt want kids at her wedding either.. but this caused a huge problem w/ her sis.. so... the solution was... they were allowed to come to the church, and only the cocktail hour.. then the babysitter picked them up from there. maybe you can suggest this. --- also, at another wedding we went to, they hired a babysitter, and she made sure all the kids were occupied and allowing their parents to have a good time...

Thank you for understanding. I have nothing against my younger cousins being at the wedding I love them all and want them there. Just I know how my little 6 yr old cousin is. He is the only one who is OUT OF CONTROL!

I don't think its horrible that you feel that way, but in the same breath, I think you had to invite him. Maybe you can hire a babysitter to hang around in the bridal suite just in case he starts acting up? Explain to the parents that its just in case he starts getting 'tired' or something, they'll get the point. They have to know if he's in that 'terror' stage also.
Good luck, it'll be fine!!

Re: How horrible is this of me?
It's not horrible for you to NOT want young kids at your wedding. My sister has 5 kids (yes 5!!) and they are all in the bridal party. The youngest will be 4 1/2 at the wedding. We are having them at the wedding, cocktail hour and then they are leaving to go to a friend or relative of my brother-in-law. They are all well-behaved and I wouldn't be worried about 'boogers in the cake' with them, but that's not even the point.
There are certain things that children aren't built for, and sitting still for an HOUR LONG Ceremony, an HOUR at the Cocktail reception and then another 4 HOURS at the reception - now that's just cruel!! Seriously, how many kids are going to resist the lure to 'run and slide' on that nice slippery dance floor or stick their fingers in the chocolate fountain after being trapped in a sea of adults for the last 6 hours?!
Relatives get weird about their kids not being invited to receptions, yet they wouldn't take them out on 'a date' or to 'dinner & dancing'...why don't people see it as the same thing? They'd have a lot more fun if they hired a babysitter and had a night out alone and stopped being insulted about 5 year old 'Johnny' not being on the invite!

Re: How horrible is this of me?
I don't think this is horrible of you at all. I am not even having children at my reception other than the ones who will be in the bridal party. I'm just afraid that I'll have kids running around on the dance floor and crying. I've been to weddings in my family where the kids were just a terror. I just prefer to have only adults and I don't think kids really enjoy attending weddings all that much because they get bored....and then the nagging begins! You should definitely say something about it, especially if you aren't really having kids at your reception.

Re: How horrible is this of me?
JMO, I think you should have thought about this before you asked the sister to be in the party. I am against inviting only one sibling and you are putting the parents in a bad situation since you left it to them. Hopefully he will run out of steam by the time the reception starts. FSIL son at that age conked out by that time and he was 6 for her wedding last year. Provide coloring books or something to keep him busy. I can understand not wanting kids there, but that is a tough situation when you are talking about siblings. I have 2 kids and would be insulted if only one was invited. If his grandparents will be there, maybe you can ask them to help keep on eye on him also or a family member.

Re: How horrible is this of me?
I'm beginning to think the only way to handle this is to have a separate room with a babysitter, hopefully not too close! I am going to have an outdoor reception on the water, and I think it's not safe for kids. I wish everyone could get a babysitter, but I realize if people have never left their kids before, it's a challenge.
