How I Spent My Thanksgiving Vacation

Wednesday night I was slightly tipsy and argued with my best friend's brother about how Albert Camus' 'The Stranger' is nothing like 'Forrest Gump' and he's wrong, wrong, wrong! (If by 'slightly tipsy' you think I mean 'smashed' then you get a cookie....now shut up)

Thursday I was denied pumpkin pie and had to substitute 2 slices of of coconut custard pie to fill the gaping maw left in my soul by the absence of beloved pie. FH called me crazy. He will never understand me.

Friday...got up at 7:30 am to drive upstate with FH and friends. Made FH, his friend and his friend's sister listen to Snow Patrol song 'Run' 10 times. Took a nap, saw a beaver dam, had a grilled cheese sandwich and drank 3 vodka cranberries... in that order.

Saturday... FHs stupid friend woke us up at 6 am to see the stupid sunrise. We went to antique shops and were terrified by a Prussian lady. Took another nap, had pizza, drank several beers, 2 glasses of wine and 1 vodka cranberry. I was president 5 times in a 4 hour game of @sshole... unprecedented!

Sunday, I had pumpkin pie for breakfast. We drove 3000 hours in awful traffic to get home. I learned that if you hit a deer with your car and kill it, you can keep it.

Monday, FH and I put up half the ceiling in the bathroom and polished off $20 worth of fudge I had purchased while upstate.

Wish I could do it all over again. Except there'd be more pie involved, less of his friend waking us up at 6am and and it would last for-EVAH!


how was everyone else's weekend?

clearly mine was not as eventful as yours. it was very dull in comparison.

good to know about the deer though.

Are you re-capping Dawson's Creek, or what's the other teeny-bopper show..... the OC? Or did this stuff REALLY happen to you? C'mon, even _I_ can't eat $20 worth of fudge in one sitting without ralphing

I am most definitely NOT recapping some teeny-bopper show like the OC!! This is my life!

Besides, they never talk about pie in those shows.

P.S. If you truly put your mind to it you can too eat $20 worth of fudge at a go.

Also, they never have very special episodes centered around jiffy pop.


And they really should.

OMG, can I tell you what an @sshatt my mother is? We were talking about that show and she said it was immoral. I said, 'No, it's amoral religious propoganda and decidedly mysoginistic.' Her reply was 'Oh that's you're feminist sister talking.'

My god, Brenda Hampton has gotten to her... my mother thinks the Camdens are too LIBERAL!

Yes, that's a well known fact in upstate New York -- they feel it is their duty to share this knowldege with the city folk.
Unfortunately the one that hitus (yes IT his US, we didn't drive up into the woods to mow it down!) dissappeared into the woods somewhere.


I like pie. I am sorry you were denied pie at first. I had 2 peices. 2 different recipes.


MY weekend was almsot as exciting as yours , but not quite. No jify pop-- but i was eyeign it in 7-11 on SUnday.

I na nutshell- 2 thanksgivings, 2 pumpkin pies, cold baby hot dogs, 2 hour torturous ride home.

11pm -2am packing Thrusday night.
Up at 6 am not to see the sunrise, but to shower & contimue packing for movres. Moved for about 12 hours, included cleaning out old apartment & re-assembling PIA platform bed in new apartmnet.

FIL did impressive sommersault dwn front steps of old building--didn't spill paint cans.

Spent rest of wekend tryig to reduce the heat levels in new apartment to something conducive to human life.

Oh and I bought a new shower curtain. It has stripes.

I like stripes.

And pie.

no, he didn't really stick it, but it was quite a tuck & roll.
