How important is it...

How important is it...

that your invitations match your wedding color theme? Will anyone even remember your invites? I am looking into invites (still have plenty of time)but I am not finding anything I love in the color my BM's will most likely be wearing. As of now (this could change) but my color theme is gold with touches of brown, ivory and hot pink. The gold dresses I am lookning at is not your typical gold so to match it would be hard. The invites I like are almost all brown (I could have gold ink). Do you think this is not the 'norm'? Also, people mostly throw away invitations so I don't know how worth it it is to go to crazy with them but then again I know 'the invitations is your guest first look into your wedding' and'first impressions' and all that. AHHH I don't know what to do. I am confused!

You dont have to match everything to your colors. But why dont you do a hot pink and brown invite? YOur Bm's can wear coco brown dresses and hot pink sashes if you like?? Or a gold invite? ANything wiill go

actually it was pretty important to me. I'm making my own invites because I couldn't find any that matched my color scheme.

'the invitations is your guest first look into your wedding' and'first impressions' .................Nah and if people think this they should stay home. I think invites are the least important thing and think that companies that make money off of them really should say outright, waste your money here! Noone will notice, buy the ones you like!

i would just pick an invite you like. Dont worry about it matching - i think its more important to match the style (elegant, vintage, casual, fun, fancy, etc)

I kinda want mine to match everything else. I am doing a fall theme, and while I do not think I want leaves on my invites, I may do a cream one with a brown border or something. I am having someone make me STDs too, and because I don't know what my invites will look like, I am going with a very basic design with white or ivory and a brown bar on it, very simple so it will match anything.

But I don't think my guests will remember - I am doing it for me, for my scrapbook or for when I put together something later, that everything - my std, invite, placecard holder, menu, etc - match. I'm a little obsessive / complusive and everything has to be symmetrical and matchy matchy for me, but that is just me.

I am crazy, yes.

It doesn't really matter if it matches. If you can't find the colors what about the theme? There's tons out there.

I am sure I will fine something and I think brown with gold ink would match well if I do the gold dresses. Thanks for your input!

I have NO theme whatsoever. Nothing matches. I'm just getting things that I like.

it's not at ll. In fact a lot of people i know, do it it a different color purposely so they don't give away the color scheme.

I was going to pick ones that match but then fell in love with one with a little boy and girl on it (kim anderson ) so I went with it .....

i agree with jess and although i wasnt going to go broke just on the invites, i DO think that it sets the tone for the event

I agree. Invitations are the least important. I'm going to keep mine simple and classic. I don't want to spend more than necessary.

i don't think its important as all.. this is the last thing i am stressing over. Unfortunately after the wedding the invitation gets tossed.

most people make a note of the date & put it aside unitl then.

i wouldn't stress it
