How interested are you in the caviar/vodka station at Cocktail Hour?
Original post by EvenEdan
I have very simple tastes when it comes to food so I would never venture over to the caviar table, but I'm curious as to how many enjoy this type of station. Please let me know your thoughts!

I think it looks very nice and gives off a 'high class' impression. Personally I don't like caviar and I'm not a big vodka drinker, so I would pass it by. I would consider your guests tastes and get it if you think enough people would enjoy it.

our hall is actually throwing it in for us -
and although i dont think that i would eat the cavier - the pics of it look cool and i like the idea of the different flavored chilled vodkas....
the pic looks like there are a couple of different types of cavier and four differnt flavored vodkas...
Re: How interested are you in the caviar/vodka station at Cocktail Hour?
I have never tried caviar. I might at a weding, but I probabaly wouldn't hve it at my wedding, b/c nobody we know eats it, except maybe FFIL, he eats all sorts of weird stuff. and my uncultured side of the family would just think, ''who's she trying to impress??'
As for the vodka? I like vodka, but I don't drink it straight.

A lot of the weddings I've been to have had the cavier vidka station. Everyone drinks the vodka and hardly anyone eats the cavier. I actually tried it at a wedding - it was okay, nothing I would eat agin though. Personally, I think it is a waste of money because it only adds to the look if people actually eat it...a seafood station with clams, lobster, mussels, etc. is just a sclassy if not more and is something most people will eat.

If I went to a wedding that had, I would DEFINITELY go over to it.... but if it wasn't there I wouldn't miss it at all...

I'm also having my wedding at the Woodbury and it is included in the CH. I'm still thinking about it. I don't like caviar and most people don't but it would look nice. It just seems that it will probably be wasteful. I have been contemplating asking whether they can replace it with something else.

I'd stay on the other side of the room. I don't think any of my guest are going to be heard saying, 'I can't believe that there isn't any caviar here'. I'd save the money.

I think it's ritzy to have one. I didn't know I like caviar until I tried it. If it was offered at a wedding I would definitely have some. I think it depends on your guests - I think it would be appreciated by Manhattanites. I would not miss it if it wasn't offered at a wedding, though.

I like the vodka part, but not the caviar. But I know people like FH who would love the caviar. It's very classy and is a nice touch if you can afford the extra but I could live without it.

Caviar is an acquired taste, I love it and so does FH, but not too many others in my family do so we are not doing it. We are doing a Seafood bar instead that has more options than just caviar and vodka. My brother had it for his wedding at the Carltun (it was great) but people just went to try it, my brother thought it was a waste afterwards. I think your money would be better spent on something else unless you know that it will be used. JMO

I had Caviar on crackers as part of my hors d'ouvres. I liked it, but not too many others did. Just my side really (& we were quite a small number).

I LOVE IT! At FH's aunts wedding, we went through 7 bottles of flavored Vodka, and the lady said some people dont even touch one of them...I think it depends on the crowd..not to fond of caviar but after 5 shots of vodka I think it tastes wonderful
