How is David's Bridal?

i am looking into getting my wedding dress and one of my top choices is at David's Bridal I've heard mixed reviews. Do they order a new dress for you ordo you take what's on the rack? How are they with alterations?

you can take what is on the rack or they will order you one i ordered mine 2 weeks ago and it should be in July.
as for the stores themselves it really depends on the sales person you get there are some great ones and there are some horrible ones. i highly sugest going durring the week not on the weekends and def make an appointment

They will order a new one but they have final rack sales too. I've been to both Lake Grove and Westbury locations and I def. would say the ladies in Lake Grove are MUCH MORE personable, friendly, down to earth, knowledgeable and muchless pushy. So if you do go check out the Lake Grove Store. Westbury they arent the nicest of peoples and having ordered 3 BM dresses in the past from that location I had a few issues. I went there only bc thats where the rest of the BP went at the time and BELIEVE me they would all agree to what I said too. GOOD LUCK!!! I thought I had found 'the one' (dress) for me at a Davids Bridal but then by accident I stumbled upon another in a magizine and got it up in White Plains.

I've tried on the dress that I think is 'the one' at DB and I'm afraid if I go there I am going to be disappointed by them telling me I have to take what's on the rack. And who is to say they tell you that they ordered it and it's from the rack anyway? I may be reading into this too much but I am a little concerned.

I got my dress from Davids in westbury. They ordered me a new one. The only thing is that the people there are not very friendly. But they have great prices.

My sister got her sweet 16 dress at Davids Bridal 4 years ago. It was a pleasant experience. Nothing went wrong. I don't think she needed any alterations.

My friend who got married 2 weeks ago told me she had a bad experience w. Davids Bridal. She said they kept messing up the orders for the BM dresses. They kept delivering them to the wrong BM, and then they 'lost' one or something like that. In the end though, they came through and everything was great. My friends wedding gown was sooo pretty, and the BM looked great.

I hope this helps.

*** Oh almost forgot. You CAN buy a dress off the rack. You dont HAVE to. They will order your dress and give you a call when it comes in so that you can start your fittings. My mom even requested that they keep my sisters sweet 16 dress until a few days before the party. That way it wouldnt get dirty or wrinkled at home.

My Bp and both moms got their dresses from David's in Lake Grove. I made an appt to be on the safe side...we had a good experince altho it was very crowded on a Saturday. They have you take the dress off the rack if it's in your size but most of the time they don't have your size so they order it. We went about mid-April and they called me last week and every dress is in...also my BMs got their dresses for $88 so they are worth checking out!!! Last year my sister bought her wedding gown from there and it only took a week to get it!

I got my dress at David's Bridal on Old Country Road and it was off the rack, because they were discontinuing the dress in ivory, so I got a really great deal. My MH, BM's and FG's got their dresses at David's as well. My bridal party had to order their dresses and they were all in pretty quick. My seamstress was good and the same seamstress also did my moh's dress as well.

Re: How is David's Bridal?

I was very wary of going to David's Bridal since it is so commercial but my mom convinced me to go and check it out. Typically the way that it works is that they carry all sizes and try to carry each dress in all sizes. This worked out well for me since I am not the typical size 4 of 6. I was able to try on 15+ dresses in my size or bigger in order to get an idea of what I liked. I fell in love with one particular dress but they did not carry it in the color that I wanted. You have the option to either take it off the rack or order new. With the dress that I wanted, I wanted to try it on in the right color before I ordered it. The nearest store that had the dress with the color that I wanted was in Texas and they don't do store transfers. I was really torn because I had a feeling that it was *the* dress but once you put the order in for your dress you either have to keep it or you get a store credit but you cannot get your cash/original method of payment back. I highly recommend checking out David's Bridal to everyone, especially if it will be your first time trying on dresses. I hope that this helps!

I got my dress from the westbury store and it was a great experience- the sales lady who helped me was not at all pushy or rushed I went during a week day- made a big difference in how you are rushed out of there ( I went on a sat to look a bm dress and wow what a change in the people there) but I went back on a Tuesday nite with my girls and it was way way better- no problems with getting a new dress for me or my girls my mom even found her dress there- they have been nothing but great.- being a plus size i was also happy they have sooo many different style and size to actually try on- unlike a few stores in the area that had nothing and said a few not nice things when i went to try dresses on in there store!!! def give them a try!!!

Re: How is David's Bridal?

I got a bridesmaid dress from the David's Bridal in Westbury for a wedding this past march. Dealing with the people in the store wasn't the greatest. The girl that was helping us suddenly disappeared and we finally learned that she left to go on her break. She didn't have the courtesy to find someone else to help us or even come over and tell us she was leaving. We were just left in the dressing rooms waiting. We finally ordered the dresses and when it came time for me to try mine on it was completely huge on me. One of the ladies in the alteration department asked me why I chose such a big size, meanwhile they were the ones who measured me and ordered the size. I really didn't have any say in that part. They kept rolling off prices of how much it was going to cost to get the dress altered, and it was definitely much more than I paid for the dress. I was just disgusted. One of the ladies finally suggested ordering me a new dress, so I tried on the same dress two sizes smaller off the rack (which happened to be the color that I needed) and it fit perfectly. The only alterations I needed was to get the bottom hemmed. The alterations came out perfect and the dress looked great. The whole situation just caused a little unneeded stress for the bride-to-be. Overall I guess I got what I paid for.

OK LADIES MY SIL WORKS AT DAVIDS, YOU ARE MORE THEN WELCOME TO TAKE THE ONE OFF THE RCK BUT YOU DO NOT HAVE TOO, THEY WILL ORDER YOU A BRAND NEW IF YOU WANT THEM TOO, WITH NO PROBLEM, THEY ALSO DO FITTINGS THERE, THEY DONT HAVE A SET FEE FOR ALTTERATIONS, IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHAT YOUR GETTING DONE, MINE ALTERATIONS FOR MY WEDDING WAS $138.00, MY SIL WAS $80.00 SO IT ALL DEPENDS

Re: How is David's Bridal?

I am concerned with alterations the dress that I think is 'the one' has all beading and lace on the bottom'the One'
and I am just afraid that all of the detail will be gone. I went to Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point and they told me that most of the dresses that they order they take your measurements and customize it to your fit and length. I don't know maybe I could go somewhere else to get alterations. Thanks for the advice!

They order a new dress for you. They told me it can take up to 12 weeks to come in. As for alterations I am not sure. I didn't end up getting the dress there. Just didn't like the quality

Re: How is David's Bridal?

I got my dress at Westbury...the experience was a mixed bag. The store can be dirty and noisy and messy. My gown sales lady was really nice, and knew her stuff, but when I came back for accessories they were pretty rude. They even lost something I paid for, and made me pay for it again.
At the end of the day, they came through with an attractive, downright cheap dress, but my tailor had to fix some problems with it.
If you are on a budget, on a fast timeline it's ok, but if I could go someplace else I would. You certainly will not feel like a princess there.

they will order you your size... it wasn't a bad experience persay...because they did have a ton of dresses when i went.. but i felt like the salespeople didn't know a THING about dresses.... what type flatters what girls.... etc etc. felt like i was doing it all myself.. and she wasn't really listening to what i wanted.....

that was at the one in lake grove
