I used 1 part ammonia to 5 parts water and cleaned with an old toothbrsh- it got ALL of the lotion and gunk out of it!
i heard that works really well! I'm using up the rest of my jewelry cleaner and then I'll be doing the same with the ammonia and water.

Re: How is everyone keeping their :ring: sparkly?
I just let it soak in hot water with a little dawn dish soap. Works great and the last time I brought it in to the jeweler he actually asked me if I wore the ring since it looked so good.

I use toothpaste. It works great. Someone told me to use toothpaste and I thought they were crazy but I tried it anyway and I was amazed!

Be careful using tootpaste and toothbrush. Some are abrasive and could scartch the metal. Also, amonia is damaging to the metal as well.
Good ol' jewlry cleaner is probably the best.

Re: How is everyone keeping their :ring: sparkly?
I originally used ammonia, dish soap and water - let it soak then brushed it gently with a small jeweller's brush - rinse in water. I started noticing a yellow film on my stone and was told it was the ammonia.
Now I soak it in alcohol, brush gently with the same jeweller's brush and rinse in water. Sparkles beautifully.
For those of you who soak your ring in boiling or hot water - aren't you concerned with damaging the metal?? I was told never to put my ring in boiling water b/c it could weaken/melt the platinum.

The appraiser told us to use a soft bristled tooth brush with water and dish soap. She said anything else, jewelry cleaner, amonia, etc is too abrasive. She also said to get an espresso machine to steam it up just as good as the professionals do!

Re: How is everyone keeping their :ring: sparkly?
I got a jewelry cleaner from Macy's especially for Diamonds. I leave it for about 3 to 5 minutes and then take it out and put it under hot water and it comes out *SPARKLY AND SHINY* as when I got it. The cleaner only costs about $5.00 dollars but it is worth the money.

Re: How is everyone keeping their :ring: sparkly?
My appraiser told me Joy dishsoap and a soft brush.
Frequent cleaning with a brush can loosen the prongs.
I use a mild vinegar and hot water solution to soak it in..... you can also get one of those facial steamers.
Watch out for those jars of jewelry cleaner.... they usually have ammonia in them.
