How is Mexico's drinking water?

I heard alot of stories of people getting sick in Mexico, and they blame the water. Does anyone know if the resorts have filtered pumps that clean the water? What is the real situation, and how can we avoid being sick? Does anyone know what type of weather to expect in late August? Thanks for your help! I just changed my honeymoon plans from St. Lucia to Cancun and I am a little nervous about my decision!

How is Mexico`s drinking water?

I have not been there in August so I don't know about the weather. I stayed at an all-inclusive resort and drank no water unless bottled. They are supposed to filter the water (even for ice), but who knows what is really going on. I also tried not to have any drinks with ice at the hotel, only at well known restaurants. Both my husband and I got sick the day before last. I was even careful about eating foods that might be cleaned with the water. Bring lots of immodium, stay at the best hotel you can, and drink bottled drinks only. Most hotel shops sell large bottles of water for your room. Also, expect lots of teenagers to be there, especially since school is out at that time. Sorry if this sounds discouraging, but I wanted to answer you honestly.

How is Mexico`s drinking water?

Fine, Fine, Fine. I wouldn't worry. I've been there 3 times and everywhere you go there, they have bottled water in your room, at the resturants, etc. I've even gone to town and eaten at a resturant and had their water!! No problems here!!

How is Mexico`s drinking water?

Absoluetly Fine!! I just got back from Cancun, my wedding was 3/31/01 = ), and we stayed at the Crown Paradise Club and I drank Margaritas all week and I was fine. Even when we went out on tours and they had mixed drinks we were fine. I would not worry. Have fun!!!

Jenn, do you mind sharing the details of your honeymoon in Cancun? FI thinks it is a college hotspot and doesn't want to go...I think it would be nice and very affordable for us. Did you get an all-inclusive and how long did you stay? If you don't mind, how much per person and such??? Thanks in advance!!! Nancy

Diva, I wouldn't worry about it, I've been to Cancun twice and NEVER had a problem. If you are nervouse, drink bottled water. I have been there in August, it will be very warm and the sun is REALLY STRONG, so make sure you bring adequate sunscreen becasue you'd hate to start your honeymoon with a severe sunburn ;-)

If you want Mexico and affordable why not try Puerto Vallarta? I went there last Spring w/ one of my friends, we stayed at an all-inclusive resort and had a wonderful time! They offer so many different tours and the area is less 'Americanized' than Cancun. I must admit the water(ocean) is better in Cancun, but the overall feel of PV was better than Cancun. There was a older crowd, and less of a MTV Spring Break feel. Cancun is great, but you may want to check PV out too. It may be just what your looking for! Any questions please ask.

Mexico-HEATHER

We stayed at Club Marival in Nuevo Vallarta(about 15 min. from downtown PV). It is an all-inclusive resort. We were there for 8 nights and 7 days. The total cost for EVERYTHING was around $1,100. It was exactly this time last year, we had wonderful weather! The nights got cool, but I don't think that would be the case in August. There is a lot to do there, the choices are endless. There is a good night life, guided tours, diving, swimming w/ the dolphins, ect. If you want to check out the resort, here is their web site- www.clubmarival.com We booked through a travel agent, not from the resort. Any further questions, please feel free to ask!
