How is this wedding getting paid for?

I'm not sure if this topic has been brought up on the 2011 board yet, so I figured I'd start with

How many of us are paying for the wedding ourselves?

FH and I will be paying for the wedding ourselves. We're trying hard to work to save money as we go, but as you all know I am sure, it is not easy.
We found the hall we want to have the wedding but I am afraid to put the deposit until we have more $ saved.

When I think of spending all this money on a 5 hour event, sometimes I think that we should just go to city hall and have a dinner at a great restaurant in the city with our close family.
But than i think about not having the full wedding and I don't want to regret it.

ITA: It actually makes me physically sick sometimes to think about spending all of this money on a 5 hour party. I know I would regret not doing it, but it just seems like sooo much money to spend. I wish weddings were less expensive.

I completely agree...i am sick sometimes as well about how much this wedding is going to cost. I think part of the problem is that we live in one of the most expensive places in the country!!! I am sooo fortunate that my parents are paying for most of the wedding..but i am so trying to do things economically. FH and I have no $..we are finishing medical school and about to start a life of paying back student loans for the next 15 yrs. I hate the thought of themm spending all this $ on one day!

I'm lucky my parents are paying the down payment on the reception hall. The rest is the FH and I, which is going to suck trying to save all that money.

FI & I are paying for everything ourselves-I don't know how we're gonna do it; i have a vision in my mind of how i want things...might need to get a second job over the next few months to help put a little extra $$ in the bank to pay for things!

We are very blessed and my parents are paying for a big chunk of the wedding. My FILs are going to chip in a little and my FI and I will pick up the rest.

What my parents are chipping in would have paid for everything if I had it my way.

Damn these huge families

*We* are paying for the bulk of it (hence the 7 year engagement)... I help support my mom financialy, so she can't help us, though she would love to. HIs parents offered to help, but keep going back and forth about commiting to a sum, so we can't really count on them. We were going to try to have it late next year, but pushed it off an extra six months. Six months more of both paychecks and an extra set of tax returns should definitely help.
