I'm new on the site... Planning my wedding for April 2010. Just wondering and hope u dont mind me asking. where is the funding for your wedding coming from? are u paying for it yourself? family helping? Loan? Savings?
My fiance and i are paying for it ourselves, was wondering on how to come about money saving tips and helping decide our budget... i was thinking about $18000.

my dad is paying about 75% for the RH, and probably the limos as well....my mom is paying for half of my wedding gown....we are paying for everything else..hopefully there will be other contributions along the way!

we are paying for everything ourselves, except for the videography and my dress-my mom is paying for those. We have setup an account that both of us have money direct deposited into from every paycheck, FH has two jobs, i have a seasonal second job and will probably be getting another one.

FH and I are paying for almost everything (his parents are covering one of the officiants)

We pay our bills and save everything else in a joint savings account. We do not go out to eat more then once a month, we don't see movies in the theater. I don't buy clothes and he cannot buy crap for his cars. It's hard and it ***** but we do it somehow.
My parents gave us some money, his parents gave us basically nothing. We are having 120 people at a summer wedding on friday night, our budget is $35,000 with honeymoon. Thats average.
$18,000 might be hard but book in the winter or a thursday, and keep things small!!!

We're trying to keep ours at $16,000. My parents are paying for half the RH, we got a little bit of help from FFIL and the rest is on us. I think $18,000 is doable. We're keeping our number down to about 120 people or less, our RH is providing centerpieces and the cake, which will help keep our costs down, we are not having a bridal party just a FG and RB, we aren't doing all of the extras really. Our biggest splurge was the ceremony/CH singer, and we're going to make menus. Also thinking of making our own invites to keep costs down as well. Ummmmm, we are doing the most basic of DJ packages a one man DJ/MC, no lights, no plasma tvs. We're going to keep it beautiful but no frills.
ETA we are doing a Saturday afternoon wedding.

we are paying for 99% of it ourselves. my mom left our initial deposit for the reception hall and will be paying for my dress. FH parents aren't giving us anything, and they said they won't do the RD either. we opened up a joint account and just have money pulled from our paychecks.

my parents are paying for the reception (the guests) while FH and I are saving up to pay for the res (photo/video, dj. limos, favors invites and all that stuff) are planning on saving about 24,000 for our part...so far so good
Oh yeah Im at 400 only 600 to go lol

We are paying for it. We each split each down payment.... and whenever there's a payment due we each pay 50%. So far so good.
