How late into your pregnancy would you go away?

How late into your pregnancy would you go away?

DH and I want to plan a trip to Ireland. We are thinking of going the first week in may when I will be about 25-26 weeks. Do you guys think that is too late to travel? Will I be uncomfortable at that point?

I think it depends on how you feel. I am still traveling for work. My next trip I will be 23 weeks (should be my last but you never know.)

Ask your doc. If you have no issues than go an enjoy.

I'm at 26 weeks today. Personally, I would not have been comfortable with the long flight and then extensive walking. I don't think there is a safety concern, just one of physical comfort. I think that my belly size is a bit high though for my weeks -- so perhaps others will feel differently. At the moment though, I'm limping a bit from hip pain so major sightseeing would not be fun!

I will be 26 weeks on Friday and we are going to Spain for 10 days. We are currently living in Ireland, so the flight is only 2 hours. I am not uncomfortable at all at this point. I am also flying home to NY on January 19th at which point I will be 29 weeks and staying until I am 33 weeks. My Dr. said there isn't much of risk of flying unless you have a high risk pregnancy or placenta previa (sp?). The airlines are concerned with you going into premature labor, although flying will not cause this. Aer Lingus has a policy of no international travel after 32 weeks (so check with the airline), but my Dr. is giving me a note. I will be 32 weeks and 4 days when I return. I would think that flight attendants get pregnant and have babies and don't stop working at 26 weeks or maybe they do.

Also, when you are pregnant and flying it is important to stay hydrated and get up and walk about the cabin as you have a risk of blood clots (although, I think this is a risk of flying whether or not you are pregnant).

I say book your trip and have a great time and if you need any Ireland recomendations feel free to ask. During this pregnancy, I have been to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Prague, Budapest, NY, New Orleans, Italy and next Spain and Portugal. It hasn't slowed me down and I have felt great and the baby is doing fine.

We took a vacation to the Bahamas when I was 26-27 weeks preggo. My doc said it was perfectly fine, he saw no reason not for me to go, but advised I flew before 30 weeks. It was perfect timing for me, as it wasn't to uncomfortable to fly. Then again, it was only a 3 our flight.
