did you register and have engagement pictures taken?
we have been engaged for 5 months and I have done neither! We aren't getting married for 2 more years, but I feel like such a slacker...

We registered four months after we got engaged and we had our engagement pictures taken a year after we got engaged.

We didn't do engagement pictures, and don't register until 6-8 months before your wedding...now is too early! Things will likely be discontinued if you register now.

I got engaged in June. We're getting married in March and I still haven't taken the engagement pictures...yeah, gotta get on that! I just finished registering at one store yesterday, and I have one more to go.
You are NOT a slacker! In fact, I wouldn't register until you're much closer to the date of the wedding since things get discontinued, etc.

I registered in either June or July (and that's when we took our e-pics too). We had been engaged for 3 1/2 months when we did it and were 8 months from the wedding.

Haven't done either yet. Plan on doing e-pics - not sure when though. Plan on registering early next year - I think it's way too early to register now. Things discontinue, tastes can change.

We never did engagement pictures (we only booked our photographer about 2 months before the wedding and though they were included and I would have liked to, there just wasn't a good time to get it done) and I think we started registering about 2 years after we got engaged (about 6-7 months beore the wedding). so, I guess we were kind of slackers too. But I agree, registering now might be a bit early due to the possibility of them discontinuing items.

i registered about a month afterwards because people were asking my mom where's she registered ?- just for a few things and I will finish up probably 6 months before the wedding.
I would register for some things before Christmas - so if people ask you what you need/want you can say look at my registry.
no engagement photos for me sorry ......

We got engaged in march - getting married Jan 05 and just registered yesterday at Fortunoff - it was fun - go for it ! We only did our china though and crystal because everything else will change bythe time we get married.

We will be engaged almost a year when our e-pics get taken. I just reg 2 weeks ago.
we registered pretty quickly after getting engaged b/c my mom pressured us to do so (her relatives were pressuring her...so that they could get us an engagement gift)
but tastes do change...so you can start small and then add on (what I did), but remember tastes change after a year of marriage too...I want all new now
and definitely don't do towels or sheets until 2 months before your shower
as for epics...we had them in our contract...but were too lazy to do them...lol

Thanks for the advise girls! I don't feel so bad now...
I am doing all white towels so I can bleach them and they can stay nice and bright! I hate when towels fade from washing them. Big comfy white towels. That I could register for now..lol

you know your thread about posting problems - here come's try 2 - let's see if it works...
Registered 6-7 months before the wedding and only because my shower was suppose to be earlier than it was - or else I would have waited. I was in no rush. I registered for the shower and wedding - not for engagement. So that was about a year after my engagement date!
I took my pictures about 1.5 months before the wedding. I only took them because they were included in my package and I felt it was a good way to get to know my photographer before the big day. I had no other reason for the pictures (like a newspaper ad - I don't like them) so I was in no rush...but I did get some great pictures.
And I am not one of those last minute people either - I think I had myself pretty scheduled and never felt rushed during the planning...I just did things when they felt right for me!

our engagement will be a litttle less than 2 years...
we took our e-pics 7 months after.. and i registered only a couple months after(it helps for engagemnt gifts)

It depends on your needs. Right now, FH and I live with our parents so we don't have the basic everyday things so we figured if people were going to buy engagement gifts for us, why not get what we need?
