A year after we were engaged which was 1 year before the wedding.

I want to know too!! The likely subjects (my sister and my FSIL) already know - I asked them immediately. I have two friends that I want to ask, but I've held off, since we only officially set the date recently. Should I wait longer, or should I ask them asap? I know they'll say yes - but they may not know that I'm going to ask them...

For the most part, my BM knew they would be in my BP before I was even engaged. After we got engaged my parents threw an e-party (about a month after we were engaged) and it was only for BP and family, so that made it pretty clear who was included.

we told them as we saw them after we booked the hall. so it was a month to 2 from when we were engaged.

I always had an idea but I thought long and hard about it to be sure. We were engaged in Oct 03 and I asked them in January 04.

Almost all my BMs knew that they were going to be in your BP except for one but I could not wait to ask her so I asked her 3 months after we got engaged.

I told them (only 2) at the Engagement party with flowers. It was 2 months after we got engaged (13 months before the wedding)

about a month and half after we were engaged. At that point we knew we were going to try to get married by the end of the year (we were engaged in Jan) so we had to get the ball rolling.

within 2 weeks of me being engaged, I asked my bridesmaids. It was before we picked a hall, but we knew the engagement itself wasn't going to be more than a year.

I think I should have waited a little longer, but I asked my girls a year and a half in advance. I think a year is long enough, because that is when you have to order the dresses.

The gals pretty much knew and it was almost assumed but I didnt officially ask them until about a month and a half after I got engaged. My parents threw us a backyard engagement party bash so i wanted to ask them before that which was only 2 weeks after i asked them.

I asked about 4 months after getting engaged (and picking the hall since we picked it a few weeks after getting engaged)...approximately a year before the wedding.

Most of my potential BM's pretty much know. My probably MOH has virtually expressed that she better be my MOH. A few spots are up for grabs. (I'm trying to match FH's # of groomsmen, but I have fewer close friends.) I plan to officially tell them about a year before the date.

well i got engaged in sept. picked all my girls in october and booked everything major to set the date in december.

I asked them the day after I got engaged!

My best friend of 25 years knew well before I got engaged that she would be my MOH. My sister and good friend from grad school knew too.

I never officially asked any of them. I just told them I was engaged and we all started exchanging pics of the dresses they like via e-mail.

Well I always knew who they would be so pretty much right away.
